Razan Family Comparison...

Recommended Posts

So at first i was going to do a washables comparison, but after smoking, there was very little i could tell that was different between the Nammor (small), Razan, Razan Abu Mahir, and Narbish. So i decided to show you all the differences.

As you can see in the first picture, the handles are all similar in length, besides the small nammor, but id assume the large nammor would be the same length too... (the large nammor is the only washable razan type hose i dont own, that and the discontinued maxura)

The mouth peices are much nicer imho on the razan and nammor then they are on the abu mahir and narbish.
[attachment=4304:PA140004.jpg]

And they are off!
[attachment=4305:PA140007.jpg]

As you can see Narbish wins the length race by a huge margin, followed by the razan, nammor, and lastly abu mahir... poor old man.
[attachment=4309:PA140003.jpg]

The end pieces are all similar in length except the small nammor, which makes it perfect for smaller argielehs like the bambino. The razan and abu mahir are the same except the abu mahir has a small 4 inch tail design that you can see in the pictures below. The Narbish is for large hookahs only. that sucker has a foot long tail.

Finally the big differences between the abu mahir and the narbish are the length and the end piece, the abu mahir can fit in my MX fotata nice and tightly, however it is still too heavy of a hose for my fotata, i worry it will knock over...the narbish however, it is a fight to get it in, and when i did, it still wasnt tight, and my fotata could not handle the hose and fell over...I dont know if you can tell by the pictures, but the Narbish end piece is slightly bigger then the Abu Mahir, apparently makes a huge difference.

[attachment=4308:PA140010.jpg]

So..

Mini Hookah (bambino, pumpkins, etc) - Small Nammor
Small Hookahs - Razan or Small Nammor
Medium Hookahs - Razan, Small Nammor, Abu Mahir, Narbish*
Large Hookahs - Razan, Small Nammor, Abu Mahir, Narbish
X-Large Hookahs - Razan, Small Nammor, Abu Mahir, Narbish

*Only if hookah is heavy

Oh and when you first get these hoses, they taste plasticy to smoke out of, run water through them for a couple minutes, do not use hot water. Then use a strong mint, like Mizo Mint, and the plastic taste will slowly fade away after a couple smokes. Mizo mint got rid of the taste after one use.. its a very powerful mint. Then run water through again, and let hang to dry for future smoke sessions. Edited by detroitmak

The razan and nammor use a pleather of sorts on the handle, it can be easily cleaned, the Abu Mahir and Narbish however use threading. The pleather can get stained, however if cleaned quickly, no stain will stay.

Great review. I do wish you would have included the Grand Caravan, though. Although I don't really care for how they look, no doubt they are built better than all the other ones.

I'm a fan of the Narbish but really don't care for that massive end on the hose where it plugs into the hookah. Even on my solid 29" KM, it makes the whole thing lean. Also, I find it's always trying to get loose and fall out because of the weight of the end. Bad idea making it that big. I think the proportions of the Razan's and nammor's is spot on. You can plut them into small and large hookahs just the same.

On My 24" AF the Narbish is quite cumbersome. Gonna see how it performs on the new Trimetal coming this Friday. As for it being hard to fit into the hose port, I use a wet paper towel. Creates a snug fit and won't come out. As for the long hose port end handle, all you have to do is rebuild the hose and take that part out, connecting the flexible hose directly to the hose port tip, leaving the whole long handle part out. I'm thinking about doing this when I rebuild my Narbish (it leaks air).

I would look at the Abu Mahir if you like the aesthetics of the Narbish, but hate the long end. ill amend this with the grand caravan hose as soon as i get it in the mail.

Is there a washable hose that fits into Mya's auto-seal valves? The ball-bearing in the valves shortens the amount of hose space just enough so that my Nammor (regular, not small) can't fit in without falling out. All of my Mya hoses are rusted and I can only subject my friends to that for so long before they get the Red Lung and I start to maybe almost feel a little guilty.

I use Razans and Grands with QT's all the time. The trick is to secure the grommet on the hose before inserting the hose into the port.

i have a nammor and i can tell you the INNER diameter isnt 1/2 an inch its closer to 3/8 to 1/4

The hose does have an inner diameter of 1/2". The mouth tips are ~5/16" while the hose tips are 1/4"-9/32".

Next time specify which part if you are asking specifically about one because if you ask what the general ID is, you will get the ID of the hose itself. Edited by foibled again

I think the small nammor works best. if you have a small hookah and are looking for portability in a washable, the small nammor is the way to go. Razan or Abu Mahir can work if you put the hose grommet on the hose first.
