cymptom
I've had some pretty nice effects experimenting with mixing in Aztec Gold liquid extract (http://www.herbal-smoke.com/herbal-extracts.htm) with my ma'assel. I've also been able to use it to intermittently moisten up the tobacco in the bowl while adding an extra kick. Now, I don't really know anything about making shisha, but I would certainly think it's possible to make some kick ass stuff using herbs instead of tobacco (or even herbs with tobacco. Could add some variety in the taste AND buzz departments... I am aware that there is some herbal shisha available, but this sounds to me like something with much more potential for popularization. I've always thought that (legal, of course ) alternatives to the nicotine buzz would be welcomed by many, and I really like what Tangiers is doing with the caffeinated line (haven't tried it yet, looking forward to it though.) I'd be very interested in seeing some Aztec Gold (yerba lenna yesca), damiana, and blue lotus shisha. Anyone with knowledge of the processes involved care to comment? Mr. Tangiers? DizzyGuy
The only experience I have with mixing herbs with shisha is mixing salvia into it =) Yay for relaxation
cymptom
Yeah, I've tried mixing herbs with the shisha and it can be really nice, especially when you've got enough syrup to get everything pretty coated. But I'm wondering what it could be like to smoke a whole bowl of delicious blue lotus shisha. That stuff gives such a chill buzz... it begs to be enjoyed in the hookah! cymptom
Well yeah, or any other herb. Blue lotus is particularly nice, a favorite of mine in terms of taste and buzz... I wonder whether or not any part of the plant could be made into a good shisha.

pavlakos_politakos
not sure if this is what youre looking for but soex makes tobacco free moassel, among other tobacco and tobacco free products.but personally i would order from soex instead of that hippy/pot alternative/legal weed site(unless that is of course what you are looking for). www.soex.com
pavlakos_politakos
sry to double post, just realized you said you ARE aware of SoeX,or at least herbal moassel.just disregard my post.
cymptom
Yeah I looked at Soex... I don't know what herbs they put in there but I read some pretty nasty stuff about it. But that the only brand of herbal shisha isn't so great doesn't necessarily say anything about the potential for herbal shisha. Yeah, herbal-smoke.com has some cheesy "pot alternative" herb blends that are pretty nasty, but there is good stuff too. For shisha it would probably best to use only one kind of herb, and herbal-smoke.com has quite a few good herbs available in bulk for pretty cheap. As I mentioned before, Aztec Gold (yerba lena yesca) and blue lotus are pretty tasty herbs that give a nice buzz. And even if the herbal shisha idea is a no-go, blue lotus petals, stamen or extract would probably make a nice additive to tobacco shisha. I've tried the Aztec Gold extract with shisha and its pretty nice... haven't had any blue lotus in a while though.
steve07
I just checked out the web site and saw they made hookah blends but I would'nt try them just does'nt seem right to use anything but ma'asel.
cymptom
Hmm, I actually hadn't noticed the hookah blends at herbal smoke but they don't look too good. From what I understand, they're just mixed dry herbs... "NOT mixed with fruit, molasses or honey"
steve07
Yea that was what I got out of it.
zombiedepot
I've mixed it with blue lotus, and damiana as well. Neither is very strong, but it's nice to mix in with the shisha to add to the buzz. Lotus is a sedative, and damiana is an aphrodisiac/euphoriant. I think that site sells both of them, worth a try if you want something new. Sonthert
Be careful! inhaling smoke/vapors through the lungs can drastically increase their effects/speed of the effects.
Lukasa
The only experience I have with mixing herbs with shisha is mixing salvia into it =) Yay for relaxation
Thats a waste of salvia, which isnt too cheap. Salvia only releases its hallucinagenic(spelled wrong, i know, who cares?) compounds at very high temperatures. The method of smoking shisha involves much less heat. Thereby burning the salvia, but not releasing any of the trip-inducing compounds. If you're going to do salvia, go to a head shop, buy a "piece" or "bong" or other hippy instruments of laziness and smelliness and smoke it with a butane torch lighter. I haven't actually tried salvia, but my friends dealed/smoked it a lot, so i know quite a bit.
DizzyGuy
Hey, it was free. I didn't get the "hallucagenic effects", but I was only smoking 17X. It really does help relax you though if you mix it with shisha
