Phunnels And Nakhla?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

Recently I got my hookah out of storage and have been burning through some bowls with a few buddies. Unfortunately, the buzz just isn't happening for me anymore with my Fantasia and Fumari shishas (I was/still am? a lightweight), and my friends keep busting my balls saying that I can't knock them off their asses.

So I decided to upgrade on a few accessories and get some tobacco in the process.

Question #1:
Is this bowl sufficient: http://hookahcompany.com/tangiers_small_fu...l_2070_prd1.htm , and also- should I go for the "large bowl" or the small one? I have been using a regular old Mya bowl for some time now, so how does that compare in capacity? My friends and I have been having about hour-long sessions with the hookah, but I'd like to extend that out if possible... so that's a consideration.

Question #2:
Nakhla tobacco- None of us like really strong or sickeningly sweet flavors. In fact, I was ruined from Romman tobacco, it was TOO much! We are all cigar smokers in our off time, so I'm looking for something that has good flavor but is not some sort of sweet explosion. We really liked the Blue Mist from Starbuzz and the Fumari Orange/Apricot/Citrusy flavors. So which should I purchase based on your experience?

Question #3:
Not so much a question, but I'm putting it out there. I will also be ordering some Coconara coals to replace the exoticas and will be using Mattarios's tutorial to do this all.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Concerns? I need to hear them! Thanks in advance guys, you all are great. Edited by jayson

Small, I smoke on those things 8+ hours without stopping and I still havent completely burned through a bowl after 2 and a half years.

Nakhla is great tobacco. It's getting better all the time. I would pick up some Mizo line flavors and double apple, sweet melon, orange, apricot and peach from the regular line.

Make sure you have a burner for the coconaras. They take forever using any other lighting method. I like exoticas and would suggest staying with them. They have gotten better since the new line of the coals came out.

the small phunnel will give you well over one-hour sessions....good pick up. if you want upwards of 8-12 hours, i'd go for a large...they supposedly smoke better than the small...

the two bolded statements are contradicting each other....but, Nakhla is a good choice. it's "tobacco with flavor" instead of "flavored tobacco"...meaning, you can tell you're smoking tobacco if you smoke Nakhla...its a fairly heavier smoke than SB, AF, etc...

for flavors: i'd go with Nak Mizo Peach, Strawberry, Mizo Guava and Chocomint. Earl Grey is good too. However, Guava, Chocomint and Earl Grey are BIG on flavor...but, they're not overly chemically or sweet.

Nakhla should keep you happy, but if you want to try something a bit more non-traditional in terms of flavors...Tangiers has a great lineup. Kashmir Cherry, Kashmir Peach, Static Starlight and Brambleberry would be pretty good to check out.

enjoy!

1. Yes, the small phunnel is perfect for you.
2. Nak is great tobacco. Strongest buzz flavor I've had is strawberry- knocked me and my friend on our asses and we had to go lay down for a bit. It was a good buzz, though. My other fav flavs in Nakhla are mizo guava, chocomint, and tropicana. I'm wanting to try more Nak flavs, especially the Mizo line. Can't go wrong with the Mizo flavors, what I hear.
3. Coconaras are my favorite coal. Mattarios2's method is by far the best I've ever used and has given me a perfect smoke everytime. Just keep in mind to pack wet tobacco a little looser than dry tobacco. So, regular Nak you'll pack tight, whereas Nak Mizo you'll pack a little lighter.

Hope this all helps.

#1)yup tangiers phunnels are a great investment, although i like to buy fform the best in the business http://www.hookahjohn.com/product.sc?produ...p;categoryId=12 john is the BEST and make sure you get a small..i mde the mistake of getting a large and that thing holds about 125 grams of shisha and took me about 6-7 coals to just get warm..the small will last you a minimum of 5+hours trust us on this

#2)nakhla is awsome..especially there mizo line i suggests picking up some mizo and a few of there 50g samplers to see what you like

#3)i dont care for coconara's just cause of the 10 minute waiting period, i prefer johns coconut coals because you get a ton of it, its priced low for how much you get..and they light in about 4-5 minutes and ash very little

Yes, John's CH coals are very good also. Ordered a discounted box with my new KM OG Trimetal. If you order something from him ask him to throw a couple of his coals in the package to let you try them out. I've only tried the naturals and I like them. Cocos and CH coals ftw!

Sounds like you'll like the Mizo line of Nak better, but as NOB as suggested, get 50g samplers to try out and see what you like. Also, don't limit yourself to one brand. My other favs are Al Fakher and Tangiers. I really only buy these three brands, but there's other good ones out there.

Hey everyone, thank you for the input.

What's the difference on the Mizo line?

Mizo line is juicier, and is more like flavored tobacco instead of tobacco with flavor. Basically eliminates the tobaccy taste, and I believe Mizo has less nicotine in it (don't quote me) so it gives you less of a buzz. Regular Nak gives me a strong buzz, whereas Mizo gives me a little, but nice buzz.

1) Yes
2) Most for naklah are not sweet explosions. (well relative to some of the crap I've tried), and if you tried starbuzz and thought it was good well then you can smoke anything and find it amazing. Try nak mizo mint (Freeze your lungs strong!), try their mandarin.
3)Go for the gold!
