cxc5120
So, tonight was my first attempt with nakhla. I smoked out of my Km with a small phunnel. I watched hookah johns video on how to pack the bowl and I thought I did a pretty decent job. I did though just use a tack instead of a tooth pick to poke the holes (didn't have a tooth pick). I also just used 2 3k quick lights compared to john using 4 of his quick lights.I was smoking Chocomint and had great flavor throughout the session, but the smoke just wasn't up to par with me. Was it just because I needed more heat? Or is it normal to not have as much smoke?Other than that I thought it was a great tasting tobacco, and preferred it's minty taste much more than say Af's.Edit: And I forgot to mention I didn't recieve a buzz? Idk if that helps in what im doing wrong lol. Edited October 16, 2009 by cxc5120
SynysterPhoenix
Are you used to smoking Tangiers? If so, i get biggers clouds from tang more so than i do with Nakhla.
cxc5120
Still can't get tangiers to smoke right. I think the humidity where I live screws with the acclimation, but seeing as winter is roling around i'll be giving it another shot.
twoapplesplease
sound like maybee you needed more heat. Also larger holes helps with nakhlaI always get huge clouds with every tobacco brand
SynysterPhoenix
I would follow Mattrio's tutorialhttp://www.hookahforum.com/?showtopic=33144That's how i pack it, works like a charm.
king_lunchb0x
my tries with nakhla were good but not the biggest smoke ive had, i use to get a buzz off it, not so much now, maybe ur getting strong tolerance? still good stuff tho
Hookie The Hookah
You should try more heat. Maybe use some coconut coals, I imagine that you don't have room after 2 3kings...
antouwan
as previously stated - go with mattarios' tutorial on the nakhla. it's pretty similar - almost identical - to what i do and the results are pretty consistent and definitely very good. nakhla is what i smoke about 90% of the time. hope that helps... Hookie The Hookah
Well I was using HJs method before Mattarios posted his and it's functionally the same thing. Don't be confused by packing methods, a lack of smoke w/ nakhla means a lack of heat. You can pretty much close your eyes and throw Nakhla at a phunnel and still have it smoke well. I've always had trouble using QLs with Nakhla too, not sure what's up with that...

cxc5120
Well thanks for the replies, I have a local shop here that sell cocos, so maybe ill stop by and try 3 of those on the bowl. But, what I don't understand is why does some tobacco need such large holes?
mattarios2
better airflow. Nak and tang require a TIGHT pack, if its packed tight with only little hole in the foil and not through the tobacco, how do you expect to get a clean smooth burn all the way to the bottom of the bowl?AF/Sb for instance are sprinkled, so the heat can easily get to the bottom of the bowl without massive toothpick holes going through all the tobacco. During the summer down here is gets extremely hot and often rains so humidity fluctuates very much, so i cant get tangiers to acclimate at all. But now that winter is coming and winter is dry season then i think you and me will have a better chance at acclimating QUOTE (Hookie The Hookah @ Oct 16 2009, 02:07 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>You should try more heat.This. But don't have huge expectations with nakhla when it comes to clouds, nakhla should also be enjoyed for the nice flavor and buzz you get from itBut mattarios' method should help you out a lot too
