Temsah Nugget

Recommended Posts

So fedex has finally arrived with my Temsah Nugget.. When I opened the box I was quite impressed with how pretty this pipe is. The work on the outside is beautiful. Unfortunately I was quite let down once I inspected it closer. The welds on the stem are very noticable and one looks like its cracked. The top portion of the stem where the bowl sits is welded on crooked, in other words the parts above the ashtray plate is not in with the part below. All of that is just as far as looks go but upon inspecting the tube itself I found it dirty as hell and full of crap. When I went to clean it with the brush 2 things happened. #1 The brush came out full of this tar like material that gummed up the brush. #2 I found that there is a chunk of something stuck half way down the tube. It looks almost like a chink of welding slag or something. I'm sure this will affect the pull of the pipe.

So to sum things up, this is a heavy, solid gorgeous piece, but in my oppinion the finish work leaves a lot to be desired. I will do a full review once I smoke it.

this hand made stuff is really getting to me, scoop gets a beautiful one and yours is not as nice, they both came from the same place at the same time. what could the newest excuse be, the guy who was on shift at the time fcb was was not as good as the guy on shift when scoop's was made? i know I need to examine them but when I am buying stems in bulk i look at a few as samples and go with the rest. i still think temsah is at the same level as KM though, I am just starting to think that the Egyptian hookah industry is getting too comfortable with he American, or entire worlds, love of hookah. excuse me i'm going to bow my head and try to walk through the wall.

First I saw the topic heading and rofl.gif really though....the tamseh "nugget"?

then I saw the pipe and ohmy.gif

then I read the post and girl_sad.gif

VERY beautiful pipe nonetheless, sorry yours isn't up to par man. The best looking pipes out there imo are midsize brass.

Welding slag? Hookahs aren't welded; they're soldered. It's very possible there is a drop of solder inside the stem. If it's not a seam it won't be too difficult to break that piece of solder loose if you know what you're doing.

Any solder on any brass stem will be noticeable. Also, a large amount of stems come in dirty. Do you really expect importers and vendors to go through and clean each stem they get? You should always clean them thoroughly before use anyhow.

Please do me a favor and put up the pics of the downtube. As well as looking up the down tube. If you could do that I'd love you long time!

You asked this about the OG trimetal stem iirc too. I don't know if this will help you but if you're collecting data/surveying stems for seamed stem tubes, all the solid Temsahs and OG Trimetals I've seen in person at HJ and HC are one piece stem tubes.

The seam is not the issue. I'm trying to figure out the metal it is made of.

Some of the downtubes are brass, some are copper. The gauge of the walls alternate between "I've never seen that thick a wall on a hookah tube!" and "That's pretty thick." The size/bore of the tubes are quite wide, like the KMs from last year. The fit and finish is a little sketchy, but the brass/copper cores are awesome. Just what the doctor ordered. It smokes quite well. I examined a number of the new ones quite closely and am very satisfied with them. More smoking is called for to test them.

The smoking is quite good, I've been testing another model of the same manufacture, the World Cup in the coveted role as my Kashmir Peach pipe. No fused downstems like in the earlier Thamseh crap. Its quite exceptional.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!

OK so I got a chance to finally smoke this thing.. I have to say it smokes beautifully. The draw is easier than any pipe I have ever smoked (yes even easier than My KM's) The more I look at this thing, the constructions is solid as a rock. This pipe should last a long long time. When I get some time I will put together a full review. My final thoughts are, if you can look past a few minor finish blemishes. This pipe is a great BUY FOR THE PRICE..

More pics to come in my review..

Many thanks to John for the great service, and a great product wink.gif

I can deal with visible welds. It's when the whole stem sits crooked that I tend to get annoyed. This becomes more apparent the taller the hookah is. The couple I've seen like this are actually crooked because the base itself is crooked. Annoying.
