The actual tobacco used in SB is very good quality and the flavor in most are saturating. Sure the word "buzz" in SB is kind of funny but nevertheless, stop hating on SB just because you don't like the price. Try judging the product for the product. If no one ever bought anything because of price we woldn't have HDTVs because normal $20 fishing boat TVs are cheaper and offer the same thing, we wouldn't have a lot of things that cost more because they're better in some way.FSU will not leave a thread without his word heard by everyone . Props on being loyal to your brand haha.ya gotta respect him for thatYou are on fire dude! +1 I really don't like Nakhala either (very weak flavor), I rather spend $20 on starbuzz than $9 on Nakhala. Sonthert
QUOTE (Zinite @ Oct 17 2009, 06:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>QUOTE (Sonthert @ Oct 17 2009, 06:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Actually, NOB, thats not correct. Tangiers is in the mid-priced tier with Al Fakher, Nakhla is on the low-priced tier and Starbuzz is on the high-priced tier. So, more properly, if you want something with a buzz, thats cheaper, try Nahkla, if you want something that's about the price of Al Fakher with a buzz, try Tangiers. I don't make up the three price tiers, but they aren't really set in stone either. I don't think Tangiers retailing for $1 more than Al Fakher puts it in the same class as Starbuzz, which is $8 more than Al Fakher.Do you think that if Tangiers was sold in a usable container that it would sell better? Obviously sealing it in a bag is cheaper for you, but I would imagine some people would be put off by seeing the Tang in a bag instead of a hard container. Maybe the increased sales would make up for an increase in cost to you? Obviously you've considered this and decided against it though - you seem like you know what you're doing .Sure, the retail would go up by $2-$3 per 250g. Pipe tobacco is sold in similar packaging to Tangiers, so I figure its decent. The other problem is I wouldn't be able to offer as many flavors or do short runs of flavors or get back to doing monthly or seasonal flavors, since the cans would have to be specific to particular flavor. Lots of people like to dump the container it comes in any ways, so I figure the lower cost of packaging is less money people are wasting. I always price my tobacco based on how much it costs me, so if I added tins or plastic containers to the tobacco, I would raise retail prices. What if I sold containers separately for people who wanted to buy them? Do you think that would work?Besides, sales continue to rise...we're probably fourth or fifth in terms of sales in the US. If you look at some business websites, we're killing Starbuzz 2:1. I don't think that's the case, but Tangiers ain't doing too bad.

SynysterPhoenix
I have tried AF, Tangiers, Nakhla, SB. They all have their ups and downs. I do buy starbuzz for one flavor (Blue Mist), but i'm going to buy Pumpkin Pie again. AF has a few good flavors, Nakhla is the same case with AF, and Tangiers is preety good but sometimes hard to get right. Just do you, if you like it, awesome, thats the whole point of hookah. If you don't like it, lesson learned, don't buy it again.

Arcane
can't pass up a chance to voice my opinion on SB...i do agree, SB is overpriced considering the quality of the product as a whole, especially compared to the other brands. If you argue that SB has strong flavors...you can get that from Tangiers and some Nakhla flavors for less money. Fusion has some strong flavors too and costs less than SB, but not by much.If you argue that SB is consistent...Nakhla is the most consistent tobacco and...yep, less money than SB.If you can somehow manage to argue that SB has flavor longevity, Tangiers and Nakhla flavors last a lot longer than SB when packed identically. The only thing SB has over the competition is the "modern" flavors...SB has that market cornered. I don't think you'll ever find a Nakhla Sex on the Beach or Tangiers Cosmopolitan. Also, a lot of the younger, college aged generation prefer the "hip" and faddish flavors. They prefer the candied smoke. I think that's why SB does so well...it caters to the majority. Lets face it...in the US, the more "traditional" smokers will be greatly outnumbered by the "party" smokers...SB knows this and caters as such. It also seems like a majority of the new hookah smokers are ignorant when it comes to the health hazards of hookah. With SB's candied smoke and zero tobacco flavor, its more easier to accept than Nakhla's deep, heavy, rich smoke...with the tobacco background. With SB, you can say "oh, it's like candy...this isn't so bad." You can't do that with Nakhla, because you'll know you're smoking tobacco...note: i have no idea if any of that makes sense...i was interrupted so many times by my troops....lol.
