Stolen Phone

So last night I was on the El with 3 other people coming home from a concert. Were sitting there minding our own business when we noticed the African american guy next to us stand up as the "doors closing" sound was going on. We didn't think anything. Next thing I know, he grabs my phone, which was in between my legs, more so under, and runs out just as the doors were closing. I was too stunned to even get up... It was horrible.
The people behind me said he had been staring at me for a while..
Well, i got off at the next stop and ran to security and they called the police. A cop came and as I was filing a report, my friend runs up to me and tells me that the person who stole my phone is calling. I answer, and he asks for the "unlock code". I guess he turned off the phone thus activating a lock code upon turning it back on. He could only call one person in my ICE contacts which happened to be my friend I was with.
Long story short, we tried to do an exchange but nothing came out of that. For some reason, all detectives and undercover cops are off on Sundays...

I went to the Verizon store today and I talked to a customer service guy about it. I reported it stolen and everything, but he said if someone tried to come activate it, they would just tell them "This is stolen/lost. We can't activate it" and let them go on their merry way.

I'm so fucking pissed. It was a nice phone too. Not even a month old LG EnV Touch.

that sucks man for real i hate thieves and honestly the CPD isnt gonna bother with your stolen phone they got much more important things to do. At least you know that phone is worthless to that guy, unless he finds some idiot to buy it. Alot of shady shit happens to me on a weekly basis on that train. i keep all my shit away at all times, especially when its crowded. At night I just stay away from cars that have these "african american" fellas on it.

Those phones go for 50 bucks with a new 2 year agreement I am pretty sure. And you also cannot pawn off a Verizon phone. he obviously had no idea what he was doing, at all, in the slightest. He scoped you with the phone, saw the touchscreen, and that probably convinced him it was worth some $$.

Verizon phones are worthless to everyone but the person who bought it. Other companies, you just pop the simcard out and go on your merry way.

Welllll, that's the thing... My phone was used to file transfers and shit. I had like, a least a gig of papers in there. that's why my phone was so badass. So basically, It was for school too. Hahah

ALWAYS keep them hidden unless I absolutely need them. Let her show up just long enough for you and a few buddies to come in and knock the shit out of him until you get your phone back. If the cops don't care about you lost phone, then they shouldn't care about you methods of getting it back (provided you don't kill the guy). Also, punch him in the nuts for going close to yours.

Hahhah, that would have worked amazingly... if I had known he called her before I deactivated the phone. Plus, that was literally right after he stole it. Because then he must've turned off the phone, which activated that lock so he could only call my one friend.

I was thinking more of a steakout... and beating the shit out of anybody that fits his description. Ha, jk.

I've honestly been going over the situation in my head over and over again and I keep coming up with different outcomes. The best on being me getting my phone back and us becoming best friends. I don't know if that'll ever happen though...
