mjdx88
I hate to make another post about Tang, but I have not seen this issue come up before.I have been smoking my mini phunnel, using Tang noir, with cocos. I use 1 and 1/2 coals in a triangle on the bowl. I pack my phunnel the same eric does. the shisha smells great everytime I open the tub but I let it sit an hour or so before smoking. The first session of coals is wonderful, the flavor isnt perfect but I know that will come as I get better at packing. When I go to put the second set of coals on, there is no flavor..at all. It just tastes like sweet cigar/pipe tobaccy. Any suggestions?
joytron
do you put on the same amount of coals because if so you need to cut back. 1.5 works great while the bowl heats up but if you put another full set of 1.5 its going to be too much. mjdx88
Alright i'll try just 1 whole cut in 1/2 for tonight on watermelon
Sonthert
I agree with that. Generally when the flavor dies out after 15 or 30 minutes or gets harsh, its from too much coal.

Arcane
i find the second round of coals takes about 25% less heat...so, 4 coals would go down to 3, then after that...i usually go 2 coals and a windcover...but, that's usually with canarys... mjdx88
So yeah used 1.5 coals in a triangle warming up the bowl and then 1 coal each set after, worked out pretty good. I needed to play more with heat management on the second and third set but over all pretty good. Just need to get my packing down and I am due for amazing sessions here on out. The only thing I dont like about tang is the heat management. With AF and Nak I just set the coals down 2 whole ones, on each side and forget about it. Flipping them when I think of it. indian_villager
I had the same issue. Switch to golden canaries for tangiers. trust me it makes life easier. They put out just enough heat for tangy.
r1v3th3ad
glad things worked out for ya. I occasionally have troubles with my heat management, sometimes I can use two quicklights, other times I have to use three halves, varies from bowl to bowlenjoy your splendid sessions
JDHarding
Another way, instead of canary's, is to use 2 of John's natural coals and a windcover. It seems to be just the right amount of heat.
Sonthert
On the other hand, I think 2 CH Coals is pushing it with a windcover on a small phunnel. I would recommend 1 1/2-2 without a windcover.
