barth Posted October 21, 2009 Share Posted October 21, 2009 so i bought some new quick light coals and was wondering how they work? i remember being told that if you light them and use them immediately the smoke at first is bad for you or something. do i light it, wait about 5 minutes, than stick it on top? how does this work ? Use them like any other coal... when they are orange all over, place them. With CH QLs, you can actually use them within a minute. I normally place 3 coals next to each other on their sides inside a spare round hookah tray, get the middle one to ignite, then push them together with the tongs to get them to ignite each other. Then when they are done sparking and smoking, place them on the bowl. The tray will get hot, so place it on something that won't get ruined by it. antouwan Posted October 21, 2009 Share Posted October 21, 2009 also 3 kings should be good to light inside, but something like john's coals have to lit either outside or by a window because they will SMOKE and break into flame.also, depending on the size of your head/bowl you might want/need to break them up (into halves or whatever)light them and wait until they have a thin ash all over them before putting them on the head.
