Recommended Posts

so i bought some new quick light coals and was wondering how they work? i remember being told that if you light them and use them immediately the smoke at first is bad for you or something. do i light it, wait about 5 minutes, than stick it on top? how does this work ?

What brand of QLs? Use them like any other coal... when they are orange all over, place them. With CH QLs, you can actually use them within a minute. They sparkle and smoke for a bit after you light them, then they are ready to go.

3 kings coals, the thing is before i used these natural bbq coal type things so i have no idea how to use these instants, i just stick the lighter under till it sparks and throw it on?

No, give it awhile to finish sparking. The whole outside should no longer be black... either white or glowing orange, and should no longer be sparking.

can i be holding on to the coal the entire time will doing this or should i stick it on a surface at risk of being burnt lol? (weird question for you prolly)

If you want to lay them down, try laying them on their side. I normally place 3 coals next to each other on their sides inside a spare round hookah tray, get the middle one to ignite, then push them together with the tongs to get them to ignite each other. Then when they are done sparking and smoking, place them on the bowl. The tray will get hot, so place it on something that won't get ruined by it.

also 3 kings should be good to light inside, but something like john's coals have to lit either outside or by a window because they will SMOKE and break into flame.

also, depending on the size of your head/bowl you might want/need to break them up (into halves or whatever)

light them and wait until they have a thin ash all over them before putting them on the head.
