Tony
Hi All, I recently had taken up rolling cigars and ended up with alot of scrap tobacco. I decided I would learn how to make Shisha and smoke it up in a Hookah. I bought the following Hookah from hooka-shisha.com: http://tinyurl.com/meww6 I'd love to know what you all think about it and if anyone has ever smoked out of one of these before. Thanks, Tony
Spentkustard
Very cool hookah you picked out man. I never smoked out of one before though. I would be interested in knowing about your failers and successes in makeing homemade shisha. Ive tryed myself 5 times with no luck yet. Peace
mushrat
Cool, a 16 inch stargate with 3 hoses and autoseal.... Let us know what you think of the autseal..I personally ended up drilling one of mine out because the air flow was too heavily restricted.
HookahEnthusiast
hmm shisha out of cigar tobacco...is it possible?
Tony
From the looks of the replies it seems I made a pretty good choice (with the exception of the possibility of having to drill out a valve)... thats great news! As far as Shisha goes, I guess I just have to mix the tobacco scraps with Molasses and/or Vegtable Glycerine. I have all the ingredients but still have not found a sure fire way of combining them (e.g. ratios). Anyone have any tips?
Tony
Heres a few pics from my photo album of the scrap tobacco I want to use:
Tony
I got my Hookah today and have been messing around with it. I had trouble with the hoses fitting properly so I had to take it to a head shop. The guy said the grommets where too big as well as short and replaced them with another size. All is well now but I have to say, the draw is very light.... either that or i'm just used to sucking down cigars and getting a full body smoke. Tell me i'm doing something wrong... I ended up plopping 4-5 charcoals down right on top of the tobacco just to get the max body out of it. I also mixed my scrap tobacco with molasses and vegtable glycerin and got a nice, fairly heavy smoke out of it, but it didn't taste very good... pavlakos_politakos
first off cool hookah, and second sounds to me like you made yourself homemade saloum moassel(zaghloul).thats just straight up bllack/unflavored/harsh shi sha.if thats what your going for ill give you some tips.pack the bowl loosely but put ALOT.it should be going over the top.and of course no foil.just plop a few coals on top and start pulling. Tony
Awesome tip! I'll try that tonight!
DownZero
You should still be able to get the "full body" smoke while it also being very smooth and should be able to exhale a thick cloud of smoke. But I'm not too experienced with cigars so maybe a full body smoke with a cigar isn't the same as with a hookah.
pavlakos_politakos
not at all the same.lol.according to my father anyway.and no problem for the tips tony, just tell us how it goes.
Tony
Well, I mixed my tobacco (which is very good stuff by the way, dominican/nicaraguan filler along with Equadorian Shade wrapper scraps) with Molasses, Vegtable Glycerin, and even a little honey and did like you said, I loaded the bowl to the hilt and put as many burning coals in it as I could fit. You where right, that definatley got some smoke moving! The flavor was outstanding too, though I did get some after-taste that wasn't very pleasent that i wasn't getting from the Romman Shisha that I have. I ordered an Ice Bowl for the hooka a little while ago, that should give it even more body... eh?
steve07
I smoke full body cigars( punch maduros ) and strong english pipe tobacco. When I smoke my hookah I have to tell my brain that the smoke is different and smoother. I even have to do this because I don't inhale. The texture of the smoke is different. Try reprograming your brain I had too, it is way different than smoking cigars and a pipe. Good luck
Tony
It sure is different! It took me a little while longer to really start getting satisfied the way I do when I smoke a stogie but I did get there eventually.... the Hookah is alot more fun then cigars too!
