Goodbye, Hookah...

Recommended Posts

Well, a lot of you guys know I'm quitting hookah. It may be a temporary thing, I don't know. All I know is I was getting obsessed, and it needed to stop. Not necessarily physically addicted to the nictotine, but it was where I was like "When will I be able to smoke?" and in my mind that's not good. I was letting it interfere with more important things in life, and I can now say I'm much happier that I've quit. It's allowed me to refocus and get back on track. Now instead of spending time smoking outside on my balcony I'm catching up with my homework. I no longer come into work still buzzed (thanks Nakhla strawberry, you will be missed). My favorite shisha hands down was Eric's Tangiers. Nakhla came second. A big reason why I definitely wanted to quit is I don't want to end up like some of you, no offense, and smoke up to 6 times a day. That, to me, is just nuckin futs. Also, on a side note, relations with the girl are now much better, because she never liked me smoking. It was just a hobby, I guess you could call it, that I just saw getting worse and worse, and I wanted to get out before I got in too deep. Finally, there's the whole health aspect...

All my stuff is for sale in Trades, though as of right now everything's pending. If anything frees up I'll post saying it is still available.

I'm still going to try and stick around the forums, though I think it's going to be hard to do that since I no longer am really one of you. I feel like to be a true member of HookahForum you must be a true smoker, not some "bro." <----Haha, some of you will get this. It's been a fun ride, and I just want to thank all of you who have helped me out along the way. Most notably Mush, NOB, Arcane, Eric, HookahJohn, Mattarios2, and the few others who I always knew would know what the hell they were talking about. Thanks guys. Perhaps someday I'll make my triumphant return...

Mattarios2: Without your Nakhla tutorial, what would I have done?!
Mush: Strict, but fair. You're a good man. Hope Hookah Bliss stays open forever!
Arcane: Probably orders the most shisha out of every man alive and probably gives John 75% of his overall business...
HookahJohn: #1 online vendor, period.
NOB: BANSTICK! HIYA! I can always count on you to be the first to post on any new thread...
Eric: I wanna see that handlebars mustache... You are a genius. I believe you could pretty much do anything you wanted to. Run for prez, I'll vote for you.

Sorry if you've helped me and I forgot you.... thanks to you all.

Cheers!
Chris

once a hookah forum member always a hookah forum member..we dont turn our back on our own kind just cause he needs a break..i and im sure everyone else fully understands where your coming from..i also took a 4 month vacation and came back and people treated me like i never left..so just cause you dont smoke anymore doesnt mean you can stick around and help out when noob's hit the forum asking questions..lol but i got a feeling you'll be back blowing dooms day clouds with us again in the future..but until then take care of your business man..hit the books..take care of yourself and your girl..and when your ready we'll be here whoring it up..lol

Best wishes! I completely understand, too! I have taken breaks from it, felt like it was taking a lot of my free time/energy/money! I hope you can find a balance with what you enjoy!

PS I don't know if anyone agrees with me, but my opinion on the opposite sex/relationship is. IF you stop something you enjoy for YOU, great. If you stop it to please them, it upsets the balance, there will be resentment. Find the beholder who has YOUR beauty in his(her) eyes.

Oh yeah, despite my girlfriend not liking it, I'm doing it for me.

Thanks guys for all the kind comments. This really is the best forum I have ever been a part of.

deuces man.....

although, i see nothing wrong with smoking 6 times a day...if a person can get all their shit in order and taken care of AND have time to smoke, i think that shows they're in control of their hobby.

you just let the hobby get control of you....once you get your affairs in order and everything starts rolling smoothly, maybe pick up a QT and order just 1 box of tobacco at a time...who knows, maybe you'll be able to find a balance with your hobby and your responsibilities.....

it gets easier as you get older too. smile.gif hahaha....

Yeah, I didn't mean you specifically, I was talking in general terms. As a woman I am just giving advice, LOL! Too many of us think we can change a man, and you should not let us. EVER! I'm sorry you're leaving us! sad.gif(

I am probably one of those who smoke too much at the expense of other things, but I work, I work out, it's not expensive and it's legal, keeps me off the streets and I believe not harmful. I can go for months and not smoke, no problem. I can smoke 6 times a day, no problems. wink.gif Everything in life should balance.

Brenda

PS I LOVE your pipe, it's exactly like mine, except I have an ice cup
now and a fuzzy hose. SO pretty, it should sell easily!

sorry to see you go, but I honestly don't blame you at all. I am really considering doing the same thing, not as drastically, but maybe just giving up hookah until I can get my grades up. I know how it feels to be obsessed with hookah...I kinda am right now. Your quitting really inspires me to do it too....plus since I don't smoke ciggs and don't smoke hookah every day, I get nicotine headaches quite often...then sucks. Anyway, hope you come back around, its been nice talking with you. If i were, you I think I would not sell all my hookah stuff...just pack it away incase you ever pick it back up. BUT, if you don't have the will power to let it just sit there, then maybe selling it is the only way. And ya, hookah gets expensive fast, hookah, frozen pizza, beer, and diet rite consume most of my money.

Good luck! If you can pop in from time to time, I'd like to know how its going for you.

I admit I was like that too at first. But then I learned to control it. I smoke for the first time in weeks yesterday. It is all really about prioritizing. I can't believe you let hookah interfere with HW. I do HW with my hookah next to me sometimes. It really does help sometimes. Well it sucks that you are leaving, but you know where to find us.
