hookahmon
I just bought some Tangiers f-line apple (caffeinated shisha). I tried packing it in a normal bowl, and the smoke was thin and harsh. I found a lot of posts about how to pack a phunnel bowl with tangiers, but I couldn't find anything about packing a regular bowl. For one thing, I don't think I packed it full enough, but is there anything that should be done differently when using a regular bowl instead of a phunnel bowl?I've also never smoked Tangiers before. Does anyone know if packing the F-line shisha is the same as packing their other types of shisha?
Click
Tangiers tobacco was around before the phunnel bowl so it's possible. Put your finger in the middle of the bowl and pack it fairly tight around your finger. Pull out your finger and place a loose blob of tobacco in the center. Foil, poke, and smoke. Zinite
No, it is not the same.Place your thumb over the center of the Egyptian bowl. Pack the shisha around your thumb TIGHTLY. Remove your thumb. You should have a "donut" of shisha in your Egyptian bowl. Foil it up, lots of large holes, but do not poke holes in the center of the bowl. Use less coal that you normally would. If you are using quick light circle coals, cut them in half and spread them out.
NIGHTS OF BAGHDAD
i actually just packed it like i would any other shisha and poked alot of holes..only thing is you will lose alot of the juices down the holes into your stem
no longer welcome
i had some peeps over a few week ago, 2 phunnels and 1 egyptian clay bowl (deja vu, i think i posted about it) all same tangiers lucid, the phunnels performed much better than the clay bowls. the guy who i gave the clay bowl too kept complaining how we were getting more smoke than he was, i then changed him to a phunnel bowl and he was happy, i was convinced. hookahmon
I'm trying to smoke the tangiers right now. I did what you guys said, putting a hole in the middle using my thumb. I poked holes with a toothpick the whole way to the bottom of the bowl. I tried using 1 Golden quick light coal broken into 4 pieces and spread out. It seems that using all 4 pieces is too harsh, but the smoke is also thin. Using 3 wasn't so harsh, but the smoke was really thin.I noticed that somehow the grommet for my base got a little warped and has a small leak. Could that have something to do with it?Anyone have any thoughts?
Brandon`
Seems like your packing it to low. Back it a lil above the rim not to much, try 4 half coals, 2 coals just cut them in half and spread them around the bowl. If that doesn't work and its still harsh maybe ur water level is to high? Or try packing it like a normal bowl high enough. Ur grommet shouldnt effect anything.

I checked the bowl after my last post and noticed that the tobacco had filled in the center hole and decided that it maybe needed to be packed tighter. Adding some more made a big difference. It was less harsh and thicker, but still not thick at all. I think you could be onto something with the water level. I'll have to try it out with a lower water level and spreading out the coals. Zyram
Before I got my own funnel bowl, I used to adapt an egyptian into a funnel using tin foil. It worked pretty well to be honest. I used my larger egyptian bowls, so if you've got one that is bigger/deeper than the others, I'd recommend using that one. Take some tin foil, bunch it up around the top part of your finger, then you cut the top part of that off and form the new "funnel" into your egyptian bowl. Make sure the top of the middle foil part is lower than the rim of your bowl. trim the excess off the edges or it's hard to get your normal foil layer to get a good seal. Then, pack just like these guys said, I even recommend you put a finger in the middle of the bowl so that you can pack the shisha tightly enough around the new middle part of your foil funnel.Give that a shot, tell me if it works for you, it worked fairly well for me, not nearly as well as a real funnel but it will save you 20bucks for a while. And best of all, you won't get all that yummy tangiers juice into your hookah and base, and will get much better flavor since it won't all be going down the stem.-Z
