Truly Scary Movies

So I was looking around online for movies to add to my netflix queue and I was wondering what everyone thought were some truly scary movies? I feel like I'm a huge horror movie freak, but so many are just brutal and not scary (don't get me wrong I def enjoy these too). I'll try to think of some movies I think are pretty scary and feel free to add.
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
[Rec] or Quarantine (American version)
The Strangers
Blair Witch Project (haven't seen it since it was in theaters so it may change now, but was scary at the time)
Martyrs
Session 9
The Changeling

When I was 16, the Exorcist was and still is the only movie that scared the shit out of me.
I saw it again last week, it's over-done and corny, the best parts are the flashes of the faces at random points.

Exorcism of Emily Rose is just like any other scary movie these days.

The Changeling was about as scary as Poltergeist, which is more creepy.

The Shining is the creepiest movie I have ever seen, but not scary.

28 Days Later is excellent film-making, but not scary.

The Orphanage is the scariest movie that has come out in the last 20 years, but it's not filled to the brim with fright - the scares are excellent, and the move is amazing.

[Rec] is full of cheap scares, but is good. Not too scary though.

Paranormal Activity was well made, and kept you on your seat, but the Hollywood ending was absolutely gut-wrenching in it's shitiness. The other 2 ending are way better. Perfect example of Hollywood fucking a movie.

Paranormal Activity was a terrible movie. I watched like 30 minutes of it before I was soo bored out of my mind I had to turn it off. I don't even like watching my own homemade movies, let alone someone else's. Ya, I know it wasn't homemade and they were just trying to make it look like it was, but to me, anything that looks homemade like that sucks. As far as I could tell, it just seemed like some random dude set up a camera to watch him and his wife live life. Then, some poorly made scare tactics were horribly added. I didn't find it the least bit scary, just boring and stupid.

One of the worse movies ever made in my opinion.

The only movie that ever scared me was IT.  Granted I was pretty young and I don't think it would scare anybody over 13, it's badass.  I like more of the old school horror flicks, like Psycho.  My favorite series is Halloween (originals), because Michael Myers is crazy mofo.

The usual scary stuff doesn't effect me at all. Even the Exorcist when I was a kid didn't bother me for more than a few minutes. The stuff that messes with me are the ones that come at you sideways or from a weird angle. Like The Prophecy where the photography made it look like Chris Walken and the other angels were perching on thin chair backs and railings exactly like birds. Something undeniably creepy about it.

As a child, the Friday the 13th movies always got my blood flowing. To this day, I still have nightmares. Something crazy about a killer who can't die. Then in Friday the 13th Jason Takes Manhattan, it's fucked up how you could run 10 miles away, turn a corner, and he'd be right there with a machete. Scary stuff.

Paranormal activity was the most boring movie I've ever seen. There's an old movie called The Ceremony that I cant find after the one time I rented it, it dissappeared from the shelves of Blockbuster and they said they had no record of owning it, which is even creepier. Excorcism of Emily Rose is the scariest movie in recent memory.

Crossroads starring Britney Spears...i swear, i had to cover my eyes and ears just to get through that movie....

haha...jk. the only 2 movies that have actually scared me were Amityville Horror (the remake) and The Skeleton Key. i know a lot of people don't think they're scary...but, the movies where nothing "hollywood" happens freak me out the most...the possibility that it could actually happen makes me sleep with the light on. sad.gif

High Tension was pretty good, not really scary but like the name implies, kept a high level of tension pretty much the whole movie.

+1. I saw this a while back and def enjoyed it.

the unborn is the only movie to truely freak me out, and thats only cause it was written and directed by the devil himself.
