Goody1231979
So I've been a long time buyer of cocos. The other night i was lighting up a set of coals for a bowl. and to my suprise one coal was normal and the other......Started smoking like a quicklight, and shit started oozing out of it. It looked like burnt sugar.Anyone else have this problem?Needless to say i emailed coconara and they were shocked also, but they are send me out a brand new box....Friggen sweet.I have pictures of the coals if intrested.thats all for nowGoody
antouwan
in the ridiculous amounts of coconaras i've used, the 'strangest' thing i've ever seen was a cracked coal.

Sonthert
Oh, they got one of the coconuts with the cream centers mixed in by mistake. That's the logical explanation. Its also possible some of the coals weren't dried out enough. I would imagine that charcoal is ground up, mixed with water and appropriate lighting chemicals and then dried out in an oven/furnace. It would presumably be a black gooey material. Possibly even a paste. If they don't get dried all the way, they would be dry on the outside and wet and mushy on the inside.

But that was my own fault.
Barnaby
hmm.. never had an issue with my cocos.. did they get exposed to anything? box got wet in transit, got humid, etc? Possible manufacturing defect, but they hooked you up with some freebies.. all good there.. to be honest this is the first time I've ever heard of anything wrong with cocos.. so, keep it! it'll be a collectors item! MrMoodz
Maybe it was part of the plastic that the coals are wrapped in?
Stuie
Question: How's the integrity of your burner? When my Coil Burner finally crapped out on me it cracked in one spot liquefying part of one of my Cocos. Sorry no picks... when the coil cracked looked like a bomb of magnesium went off in my kitchen
Goody1231979
i have 2 burners, both in good shape.i think it was just a manufacturing mishap. nothing was on the coal, looked normal to meand yes they sent me an 84pc box for one fucked up coal, great company
twoapplesplease
I found a coal just like this today... When I split one in half(I chop alot of them in half)I did'nt really notice it untill I had it on the burner kinda smelled like burning marshmallow.Did'nt really care that much, but I hope its not a growing trend.I love coconara's, If I find a few more I'm switching To some other coconut coal... I'm talking less than four dollars for a 'big' box of 60. if i had to pay the online prices it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but for less than $.07/coal that's pretty hard to beat. after i started using the chop-'em-in-half technique i went back because the AF cocos just didn't have the longevity of the cocos with this method.
