Zinite
Are you sure it's lead solder and not silver solder or just a standard welding joint?

cotsi95
the copper downstem is fine. In fact its preferred over a steel one. The solder is 90% likely silver. I say its safe to smoke and id give it a try.

Stuie
This first thing I thought of when I saw "Is it safe"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQtM1syENmQYeah it should be safe.
Sonthert
Lead solder should be safe. The tubes are sealed and the solder is on the outside. I believe most Middle-Eastern companies are using silver solder though. Copper is safe. I'm smoking out of a brass hookah right now. Tastes like dain bramage.
