Where can I get a 17g one coal bowl? It's not a phunnel, is it?

I advocate phunnel bowls because they preserve sheesha for that. If you get a bowl half cooked, just replace the top layer and you're good to go. With a standard bowl, the juices just drip out and are gone. If you use the same bottom layer three or four times, you've saved a lot of sheesha. Don't put it back in the tub, though.

Is that the secret? just replace the top layer? I tried reusing a half smoked bowl before, and the results were not that great...

how do you smoke a kilo a month? i go through ~1.5-2kilos per semester

A lot of wasted shisha, that's how. I tossed a lot of it out when I cleaned bowls.

ive got the packing down so that 1 small phunnel lasts me almost exactly 3 hours.by then end its all crispy. the key is packing it slightly looser than everyone says you should

If got one of those...I quit using it though because I keep burning the shit out of the shisha every time I use it. It will smoke amazing for like 10 min, then taste like coal (and I am using CH QLs) then I give up because I can't get it to recover like I normally can.

see, I like this, but when I try to peal off the top layer, most of the bottom good stuff usually comes with it...along with my mod. I normally just keep lighting the same bowl 2 or 3 times without removing anything. This is one of the many reasons I love my phunnel, still works even with a couple chips smile.gif

Last weekend I went to my buddies place out in the country, there were 5 guys (including me) and one girl there (for once, i was the one who brought the girl, yay for me...usually I am the only one without a girl, but anyway) smoking off my one hookah and my buddy just bought some Layalina Esk. that he wanted to smoke, so I loaded it up (probably 30-40 g's) and it smoked for a good 3-4 hours and the only reason we quit was because the coals went out and I was too lazy to light more, yay for phunnels! oh, and i am really thinking about trying to relight that bowl next chance I get.

It depends. It works fine for low water content tobacco, not as well for high water content tobaccos. It doesn;t work very well at all for non-phunnel bowls either.

Did you add a new top layer?

You have to make sure to remove all the dried tobacco, leave only the wet stuff. Its not perfect, but its better than burning so much tobacco.

Well I tried using it with AF, without replacing the top layer. I just left the bowl sit for a day or two, then returned to it and added some coals. The flavor was almost gone, and it didn't smoke well at all. Perhaps I need to try and remove the dried tobacco first, add more then smoke away.

Off topic, does the Scalli mod actually work that well? is it worth picking up? I'm not sure if it would save a lot of tobacco, or just give the impression of saving tobacco... Opinions?

Oh I know that it is not a low water content tobacco, I just have not tried taking off the top layer and reusing the bottom layer. I'm going to try it later this week and find out if it works that well or not...
