JDHarding
Sadly, I had to use a Mya bowl to get it to work. Some glycerine mixed in, packed loosely in the bowl, lots of holes, and 3.. yes.. 3 of John's coals on top.. and it FINALLY smoked. I'll probably need to take coals off as it continues, but wow.. what an interesting flavor. I got Strawberry and coffee Desi mixed together.. Anyway, back to enjoying this smoke and that familiar buzz.
momatik
What do you think of the stuff? I've heard it's for more seasoned smokers, and not only because of the buzz. Edited October 30, 2009 by momatik

JDHarding
Can't really say how bad the buzz is.. Tangiers and Nak no longer give me a buzz, so.. if you're as seasoned as I am, then Desi won't buzz you much. The flavor is like no other flavor out there. It seems like a heavy tobacco flavor, with a mild flavoring flavor. The stuff is really dry, so it's almost impossible to get it to smoke right. I may need to add honey to it to make it wetter 'cause I smoked it pretty dry. The amount of coal I used made the smoke a bit hot. Not harsh, just hot-like. And I had to keep putting the windcover on, then taking it off.. 'cause it needed a lot of heat, then it was too much heat, then not enough, blah blah.So I got it to smoke, but I still need to find the right amount of glycerine and honey for it. Hippo_Master
1/4 tsp honey and glycerin for a bowls worth. That's a small phunnel with a mod, mind you, and i don't really know how you could be smoking it out of those shitty little mya bowls. . With honey and glycerin it'll clog that bowl up like a constipated 80 yr old. You say you are using 3 CH coals which is generally a perfect amount to start with, but with this black style tobacco, the whole amount in the bowl has to be heated evenly. Break the CH coals in halves, and put 5 or 6 around the bowl, ans use a phunnel + Mod, with 4 rows of tiny holes. Too much heat in one area, which you are definitely getting, causes it to smoke harsh even on the back of the throat and palate. This tobacco should be extremely smooth, and you should definitely not be using a Nammor or thick gauge hose and inhaling this stuff at all. Like a pipe or cigar, this is for taste, not clouds or buzz. You should be using a mya hose or preferably a small gauge leather hose. This tobacco will not cloud no matter what you do, it will be pretty thin, sometimes thicker at times. The glycerin and honey is to help the tobacco burn through, if it wasn't there you would need direct flame to smoke it, which of course ruins the flavor and turns it into a Zag-like flavor. The buzz is light to medium, depending on the food you ate, how hydrated you are, and how long you are holding the smoke in your mouth. if you are inhaling, it'll kill you. You'll definitely get sweaty and nervous and squeamish. Edited October 30, 2009 by Hippo_Master
