What Are The Best Quicklights To Use With A Small Tang Phunnel?

Recommended Posts

for quicklights...
I like Three Kings because I have never gotten a headache from them and they break in half easily. I don't like the fact that they burn really quick compared to other coals.
I also really like Starlight coals...they burn about ten minutes longer then Three Kings. They are more difficult to break, but arent going to crumble when you do. Only downside is you have to wait until they have a full coat of ash on them before you use them...any black left on them and you will get a headache. Still my go-to right now

I like Cocos, haven't gotten japs to work right.

You have to use a lot more Japs than Cocos.. and they gotta be red frikkin hot.. I dunno if the trick is to get it red hot on only one side or what.

I don't know about using More japs, its just that coco's sometimes last up to 1.5 HOURS, crazy. The japanese coals burn really low-heat, so after 30 minutes, I'm already lighting more, so I use 1.3-1.5 x more coals then others like coco's, or less so Exotica's.

However, Jap coals are the, THE most solid things out.

I haven't tried Johns QL's, which I will sometime, because 3 kings are noticably shit-flavored.

I can get Starlights at the same place that has 3K's... Might just pick up a roll of each next time I'm down there.

Do John's QL's affect the flavor of the smoke the way most other QL's do?

Yes but to a much lesser extent.

to awnser the question though the best quick light is NO quicklight.

Thanks for reviving my thread only to piss me off about finding out I could've gotten some CH QL's from LIQUIDGSR...

Pay $10 shipping just for some damn coals? Uh, no thank you. LIQUID, I bet you've already ordered them, but on the offchance, I'd be more than happy to get a box.

In terms of non-coconut coals (not that it makes a ton of difference), Three Kings>Al Fakhers>Goldens. In terms of coconut coals, CH>Coconaras>Exoticas. For Japanese type coals (which you didn't ask about smile.gif)....Canaries>Abu Hithams>Magic Coals (Fumari?)>>>>Easy Lites>Family Size>Diamantes>Silver Coals>Quikstarts

Note that the first three types of Japanese coals light easily and off of each other.
