Looking To Buy A New Hookah?

I'm new to the forums, this is my first post, so here's a little background on me:

So I'm fairly a newbie. I just tried hookah after I turned 18 earlier this year, and I love the experience, especially as a social one. My buddy gave me his hookah because he didn't use it as much. I do appreciate it, but it's a very cheap one. I couldn't tell you a brand let alone a model. It's also a bit roughed up. I had to replace the bowl and the bowl doesn't seem to fit well, I lost the bowl grommet (been using a moistened paper towel). As far setting it up goes, I'm following all the rules and steps. I don't know if its the hose or what, but I've gotten ash in my mouth while smoking, the release valve doesn't work, and despite trying just about everything, the smoke is really thin. I tried new hookah and charcoal, as well as milk,and it didn't help much, it's not near as much of the thunder clouds my buddies get on their hookah. (so I'm guessing there's a leak)
I went to a lounge recently and I decided to get a small hookah because that's what the guy gave me and my buddies. The hookah was small but it was a GREAT smoke, I was impressed.

I'm planning on selling my current one to one of my friends (he offered to buy it even though I was going to give it to him for free, but he knows I can't really afford to just give it away if I'm buying a new one). Since he wants to pay me, I'm giving him a 100g of starbuzz shisha, Coconut Al Fahker 50g, good coals, and the hookah I was just gonna give it to him for around $20. Which is pretty much the cost of the shisha/coals to me alone, Ive only used one bowl of the Starbuzz and one coal.

So finally, the point:

I'm looking for suggestions on a new hookah. I'm from Vegas and I've seen Diversity (a popular local smokeshop/tattoo/piercing chain) sell small/pumpkin style hookahs for less than $20, no frills or extras just you get what you see and tongs. Idk if I should go with that or invest in something more. I understand you get what you pay for, and I'm looking for a good quality smoke without being too hard on the wallet, I'm a broke college student, and hookah is the one thing I don't "need" that I spend money on, and I have barely spent anything since the day I got my hookah (which was early June).

Like I said, I'm looking for something small. I don't want to spend more than $45. Ideally, I'd like to spend between $35 and $40 and get something with a package that includes some coals and shisha, since I'm giving what I have to my buddy.

I've looked at some nameless pumpkin style hookahs for between 20 and 30. I like the looks of the Mya QT, it seems like a quality hookah for a reasonable price, but I'd like to know what else is out there. My favorite style is the espresso/stargate modern hookah, but I've seen that they all seem to be ripoffs and the aluminum build of it is a POS. If anyone has had a positive experience with them and know one for a good price I'd love a link or tip.

I'd appreciate suggestions, tips, advice on a hookah, and the best thing would be links to sites. I've done my share of exploring around hookah shops on the internet, but it's hard to know who's legit. I don't want to pay $40 for something that ends up being a rip off of something that isn't worth crap. I figure many of you guys are experienced and would be able to the most reliable info as far as the internet can go.

Save up to buy a Mya QT or a MYA bambino.. They will be worth the extra money, they will smoke better and last longer than any no name cheap hookah you can buy..

You've already mentioned the best small hookah.. Mya QT. I'm about to get my second one in the mail after owning one a few hookahs ago (I've owned a shitty Chinese, a Mya QT, an Al Fakher 24", a KM OG Trimetal, and now a QT again). IMHO, you just can't go wrong with the QT. Ask anyone here- they'll tell you it smokes great and some will even tell you it can put out clouds like a KM. I never got them with my old QT, but now that I know more this time around owning one I'm gonna see how far I can push it to the max cloud-wise. We'll see. Anyway, for your price range, it's the best. Order from H-S and get two sample 50g's of Romman and two rolls of Golden quicklites:

You can also order the two-hose model, or simply buy the extra hose port adapter and hose later on and make yours a two-hose. Very easy. Quality, portability, affordability, etc... It's a great hookah. I highly suggest it and I'm sure many others will.

Anyone know how the QT works with a Vortec bowl? I want to order one with the hookah when I get it. I've seen some reviews that changing the bowl makes the smoke a bit better. Is it true that it's a pain in the ass to clean or that the glass base is sketchy?

Go for an original Tangiers Phunnel bowl they are the best.. A small or medium should be fine..

either one will be a decent deal.. The romman shisha is really good stuff but does pack a good buzz, it is not like starbuzz at all.. John is a great vendor and does carry Original phunnel bowls. H-S is a bit cheaper and the OP can wait to order his phunnel until needs coals and shisha..

It was 50 dollars and the guy working there gave me a free pack of tobacco and coals when I bought it.
If the QT is similar to the Econo Gelato in quality than I would definitely go for it if I were you.

i know you only want to spend 45 but thats on a hookah right? i would spend the $100 at h-s on baccy and accesories and grab the free mini mya. it smokes great!!! it tastes like plastic because of the acrylic base the first few times but it goes away after that. trust me this thing smokes like a champ. the stem is solid. dont be fooled by the acrylic base and FREE price tag.

Yes, that is all very true, but the OP didn't say anything about coals or a Tangiers phunnel bowl. I'm looking at the price of the hookah only.

he should order from Hookahjohn, then he can get the phunnel for a discount. Even if he bought the QT from h-s now, and then a phunnel later from HJ, he spends more money than he would spend buying all at once. QL coals are shit, as well, and with John's deal you get a full box of the best coco coals available for a discounted price - That's 1 kilo compared to no kilos. Romman is alright, but if your not smoking it out of a phunnel you aren't smoking it. Nakhla is ok as well, but you will get a phunnel instead of romman, that's an excellent trade-off.

Also, you get your order in 3-4 days, instead of 5-7 days. And, the shipping from h-s will be around 8-9 bucks anyway.

But yes, to the OP, Zinite and others are right in saying ordering from HJ would be better if you want more coals and if you can afford to go ahead and get a Tangiers phunnel, which I personally would do.

It was 50 dollars and the guy working there gave me a free pack of tobacco and coals when I bought it.
If the QT is similar to the Econo Gelato in quality than I would definitely go for it if I were you.

The only place I shop in town is House of Smokes on Silverado Ranch and Maryland Parkway. I'm pretty good friends with the owners and I'm always there on Fridays around 3pm. As far as ordering goes, I prefer Hookah John. In fact I hooked John up with House of Smokes to sell his CH Hookah coals. Hit me up sometime, I'm always down to smoke or chill.

I doubt that you will get a hookah other than a MYA that's good quality for that low of a price. I could be wrong though.

I live on the far west side of town off of Charleston Blvd.
The shop I bought my hookah at was some no-name smoke shop (probably just called "Smoke Shop") at Sahara and Ft. Apache which I go to regularly.
I don't know if the shop I went to normally gives away free tobacco and coals with their hookahs but it wouldn't have been 5 dollars if I had to buy them myself so he probably just threw 'em in to be nice and because I buy from them regularly.
I haven't really gotten around to checking out a lot of the other stores yet having been busy lately with school so there might be some better deals out there.
I am pretty new at hookah smoking so I haven't smoked a lot of different hookahs but my Econo Gelato is definitely the best one I have smoked thus far.
I don't know anything about the hookahs I have smoked in the past but I doubt any of them were of particularly high quality.
I've been to an actual lounge only once (Red Hookah) and I found the experience to be somewhat disappointing.
Maybe we just got a bad hookah but it had a pretty tight draw and the flavor we picked out (Purple) wasn't great.
Also, they had a DJ playing really loud music that made it not a very relaxing environment.
It felt more like a "hookah club" than a hookah lounge.
The Mya feels like smoking through a damn garden hose in comparison to the other hookahs I have had the opportunity to smoke.
I have definitely gotten fatter clouds out of this little beast then I have with the others as well although I am still new at this so for me that isn't always consistent... yet.
The only issue I have had is that I was using ice in mine and the damn base broke from what I assume to be thermal shock.
It cost me 27 dollars (12 + 15 S&H) to order a new one from Mya.
I am not sure if that was my fault (perhaps I put too much ice in it) or because of the way the base was made or something.

I have heard of that place but I haven't been there yet as it is a bit of a drive from where I live but perhaps tomorrow I will go check the place out.
If they sell HJ coals there than I might pick some up.

That place is hilarious..they have two red limos out front on 20's!!! I told a lady that worked there that this place should be called Pinky's (after Pinky's from Next Friday). I can agree tho, not the best experience. There is a lounge over here called Almaza, they are ok...but if I go in there I take my KM, phunnel bowl, and Nammor hose. The customers love my stuff, but not so much love from the employees. If anything I just go to the HoS owners house and smoke there. Best sessions are had there. Like I said, I will be there tomorrow around 3pm so if either of you guys wanna meet up there I can introduce you to them. And yes they have quite the stock in CH (Im guessing I cant say the name of them as my last post was edited) Hookah coals....Hit me up if there are any takers...

I did, very much so. It is the best smoke shop I have seen thus far.
I will definitely be shopping there again in the future.
They have a very impressive selection, good prices, and a chill staff.
