skmiller
Hi,I live up in Northern NJ by the Hoboken area and am looking for someplace local that sells Tangiers. I have tried Hookah Paradise in Clifton and a local shop in Paterson but neither carry it. If you know of anywhere please let me know. I am also willing to buy in Manhattan. Thanks

skmiller
Yeah, i spoke with the guy over at Hookah Paradise and he said he's working on it and should have it in a little less then a month. Id prefer against ordering online cause I dont want to pay the shipping fees. Also, I typically get any online orders sent to my office since Im usually not home when UPS/FedEx delivers. So I'd prefer not having tobacco sent to the office and having my coworkers asking what I ordered. Thats why I was hoping there was somewhere in either NJ or Manhattan that carried it. Then I could just stop by on the way home from work. I'm a little surprised that it's so hard to come by. Anyone know the reasoning?

Anyone know the reasoning? The boxes from online vendors aren't flagrant or anything and usually the "from" address is something ambiguous. I've had whole hookahs shipped to my office before. You're going to pay for shipping regardless of whether you buy it online or buy it at a shop. Shop's are going to charge a mark-up. Also, most reputable vendors have discount codes of 10-20% off, which will virtually eliminate almost any shipping cost in the US. You're better off ordering online. Just tell people you're buying dietary supplements or replacement bulbs for something no one will care about.

momatik
^I've done that before, but what turned off a local carrier by my area was the fact that Eric made everything by himself. My guess is that he was scared of the liability issues. He wasn't sure it was a "safe" product.Needless to say I'm sure if he had taken the time to talk to Eric and try the stuff himself, he would know better. fineout
well dont explain it as "theres one guy that makes it all himself in the back of a shop in california" that sounds honeslty a little shady, just say "you should try this brand named tangiers, its one of the most popular and known as one of the best hookah tobacco brands out there, as well as being made 100% in the usa"

Although, I don't see talking Middle Eastern shops into carrying Tangiers... lol. The only shop I know is run by these awesome guys but I bet they get all their stuff (Nakhla, Al Fakher, Khalil Mamoon hookahs, etc) dirt cheap from Egypt. Wish there was a shop around here that wasn't run by Middle Easterners that I could talk into carrying Tang.
momatik
What happened was he had just picked up Jewels. Calling it premium stuff.I said "have you ever heard of Tangiers? It's also a premium tobacco made in the US."He said yeah, and went on to explain what he understood as issues.

Sonthert
Nobody in NJ. Two in NY, one in Philadelphia. Thats about it. Also, Lazy Dayz is in Virginia. I know Maryland is in the way...get some of these guys to pick it up. I've found they only sell what they're told to, for the most part.
indian_villager
For that driving distance I think it would cost more in gas than shipping. At least online you know what is in stock.
skmiller
To be honest, at this point I'd prefer to just smoke what I can get in stock that is about a 5-10 minute drive from my house. They have a ton of flavors and multiple brands and the prices are pretty really reasonable. Plus the good thing is, if I see something I really want to smoke, I dont need to wait 5-7 business days to get it. Tangiers sounds like its good, but if its really a big production to prepare to smoke it and I gotta wait for it to ship to me, then I'm not really that interested. Its a shame... Maybe this guy will get on the ball and start contacting some local places to get people to try it. Or maybe he's happy with the demand he gets from the online buyers and doesnt want an over demand of production. Who knows. But until someone local to me starts to carry it, I wont be smoking it.
