NIGHTS OF BAGHDAD
depends, first what brand of shisha are you doing this to, what brand of coals and how many coals are using, what type of bowl, how are you packing the shisha, once you answer all these we can help you.. JDHarding
Standard egyptian bowls will burn.. those little Mya bowls will deffinately burn.. phunnels don't burn, hence their popularity. But they do burn that top layer, but that can be picked off and more shisha added on top of the uncooked stuff on the bottom, also hence their popularity. Hookie The Hookah
Yes, unless you are getting harsh smoke nothing is wrong. Edited November 9, 2009 by Hookie The Hookah
Genie
I agree with most others. At the end of a good session, all the shisha looks burned and is usually crispy and a goodly portion of it is frequently stuck to the foil, sometimes with a bit of moisture still at the bottom, but usually not. Unless it's tasting burned during a session, you're doing just great. I know a session is over when I can't taste the shisha anymore. I open up the bowl, and voila, it's full of burned looking shisha.

r8rfan121
what if its just getting harsh at the end of your session? that always happens to me and i just assume that means the shisha is done. *I'm not trying to thread hack lilmopho, feel free the delete this post if i am, just trying to figure out a similar problem i've been having*
JDHarding
Don't forget to cut little V shaped holes around the rim of the tealight candle sleeve.. otherwise it will block your attempts to pull.. sometimes the bottom needs to be bent outward to fit over the phunnel's center. spectrum055
Mine is all burned halfway through after a session and the bottom layers is black nasty and dry....usually three coal rotations out of a bowl that came with my KH ....I use two Coco's made by AF and it's usually always better second rotation...of coals...though I pack tight ...then poke through the shisha to the holes...then foil it..and poke the foil holes...and I've no trouble.
