Rootsman
Hopefully my previous reports on Cairo and Marrakech were interesting for you. Anyway I just spent 4 days in Kiev, and I found that there is a burgeoning shisha scene there. A wide variety of pipes are available (inc Mya) but at quite high prices and you can rent a shisha in some bars/clubs - it cost me 6GBP for a peach shisha and it was very good. I went on the trail of seeing if I could find any ma'ssell available and I generally found only 50g boxes. There was Habibi brand from Jordan at 1.80GBP per 40g box and I got a few different flavours (apple, grape, mixed fruit, melon...). Legitimate Al Fakher was around (1.60GBP per 50g) - picked up Apple, Double Apple, Melon, Fruit Cocktail, Cherry. I also got some Nakhla which I didn't have for 0.90GBP per 50g box - coconut, maybe 1 or 2 others. Finally, a solitary box (250g) of pineapple Prince Molasses from Egypt was spotted and snapped up. When I checked it the expiry was Dec 2004! Still will give it a try though. When I got home I transferred it to an airtight container and the ma'ssell was still wet as hell! Nuff smoking to do now! Maybe the forum should start a travel reports section - would definitely help those who travel a bit.

sheeshabum
My daughters and sons were in the Ukraine at separate times for about 6 months each. There is the Ukraine, and there is Kiev, like comparing New York City to Beaver city Nebraska, or London to Middlewich in England. It's super-cosmopolitan. It also tells me what a big market there is for hookah and shisha.
