Hookah_510
ok I retract my statement. goddamn, 5+ bowls
Stuie
Think it's lazy. I bought one like that from H-S a long time ago when I still smoked out of a small Egyptian. Used it twice, still have it, but if I remember correctly, it tore a lot of foil instead of punching holes. Maybe if that big one can do a phunnel, might give it another try. I am in the same boat as NoB. 5 is on the hide side, but at least 3 a day.

ih303
I think it's a super idea. In a lounge, almost the same amount of time is spent poking holes in foil as packing the bowl itself. And that really hurts during a rush or when it's consistently busy. I've often thought of how much easier it would make things to have a device like this. However, I bought one from Hookah Co. that turned out to be only slightly larger than a quarter. Seriously! Who the eff smokes out of bowls that small? no longer welcome
the tips on these are fairly sharp, however, i just don't think it's a "must have" type product.

Barnaby
I got the one from H-S when I first got my hookah.. It worked sorta.. It was way smaller then the standard mod bowl that came with my Syrian hookah, and was hard to get uniform holes out of it. It saved me no time vs. using a toothpick/oyster fork/kabob skewer.. The only thing I've seen that looks like it would save some time is someone on the forum's DIY version, which was a punch of pins shoved through Styrofoam, with a backing over the heads of the pins to keep them in there. But seriously.. how long does it take to poke holes? a minute? you really stressing that minute?
agstevens
That would be usefull. But only if it made good holes and not tearing the foil.

TexasHookah
Yeah, we tried out different foil punchers, but just haven't found one that will not tear through the foil. Biggest problem with the foil punchers otherwise it's a great idea.

ih303
QUOTE (Barnaby @ Nov 10 2009, 08:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>But seriously.. how long does it take to poke holes? a minute? you really stressing that minute? When I have people waiting on hookahs and two-dozen coals glowing red and ready to go, you're damn right I stress that minute. Ask anyone who works at a lounge - add a minute here and a minute there to a constant flow of hookahs coming in and going out and you end up with a bottleneck. It's much different than leisurely and lovingly preparing a bowl for yourself at home.

chinamon
QUOTE (HookahJohn @ Nov 10 2009, 02:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>the tips on these are fairly sharp, however, i just don't think it's a "must have" type product.nothing that is hookah-related is "must have". nobody NEEDS to smoke. we just chose to.anyway, that poker is a good idea but many of us like to poke holes right down to the bottom of the tobacco so this device wont work very well.
