momatik
Hey HF,I'm getting frustrated with a little hose port problem on my KM.The hose port has some jagged edges and gaps which allow for air to leak.Tissue paper helps, but it's takes a while to get it proper and it's annoying, not to mention aesthetically unpleasing.I'd rather do something once rather than have to wet a piece of tissue paper and work to get it in and all that jazz.Any ideas HF?[attachment=4451:IMAGE_084.jpg][attachment=4452:IMAGE_086.jpg]

But anywho, i would take a dremmel tool with a sanding disk to it. Then polish it with the same dremmel. Should be fine..in the past I have also used electrical tape, to tape up where the hose meets the port and seal it. Do this on the outside once the hose is in the port, just wrap tape around the hose and continue over to the port.
mattarios2
never ever seen a km like that, i would just put a little electrical tape and wrap it around the hose gasket so it sits in there tighter sealing the leak.
momatik
Yeah it's a KM, but it's a much older model. I might have to get my hands on a dremel and try that bayern.[attachment=4453:IMAGE_095.jpg]
frost91
y not put sodder on the jagged parts? will seal it up instantly and make it nice and smooth
ih303
I have an old KM that I bought from an Arabic Butcher Shop in Washington D.C. that looks almost identical to that one. I know it's a KM because it's arabic logo is imprented on the shank. Solid, solid hookah. Not anything like a lot of the hollow stuff they're coming out with lately. Zinite
What type of grommet are you using?
Genie
They make a hose grommet that is fairly small with no lip around the edge, it's silicone, that will slip right down into my KM's hose port to the point that I can't see it from the outside. I wonder if that wouldn't work better for you in this port. It's small enough that I put it on the tip of the hose end then put it in the hose port because it disappears in the port and I'm always afraid if I put it in the port first and then put the hose in, I'll just mash it instead of have it seal around the hose end.My point here is, I guess, is it smoother inside, deeper in, than it is on the edges? If so, this soft silicone grommet I use seems like it would be perfect. It won't make a tight seal with the outside edges of the port, but it does make a seal further in. You could experiment, if you use a soft silicone grommet already but it has a lip around the edge, cut the lip off so that the grommet will fit all the way into the port, put the grommet on the hose tip, and jam it in the port and see if it will seal better that way.Just a thought. Don't know how far that awful rough, jagged stuff goes into that port.
Stuie
I am with the dremel idea. Sand it down and be done with it.
ryno
I agree with the dremel idea also. Those things are just so handy
delSol_si
that is one ugly ass hose port. Solder will just make a mess...dremel should work great.
momatik
Looks like I'm going with the dremel idea.I'll update with pics when I'm done. Thanks to all for the advice.
indian_villager
Dremel and drum bit.
antouwan
i guess you could dremel it. personally though, i use the wet paper towel idea even with the newer, much smoother hose port and none of the grommets i have work well on any of them. the best way for me to get the hoses in the ports without them falling out is by using a damp paper towel. dremel it for the hell of it, but i bet you'll still use the paper towels

Genie
I used a Dremel to smooth out the inside of tip the downstem, it had a jagged piece that was ripping up the stem brush every time I went to clean up my hookah. Did a pretty good job. I just worry you'll end up widening your port and having problems finding a grommet big enough to keep a tight seal. Hopefully it won't require that much smoothing!
