To save Eric and everyone else a lot of headache I'll say it for him:

1) Use the search button
2) Eric has stated many times that he will not be making more mini-phunnels because he believes that they do not perform to his standard.
3) The reason phunnel and Tangiers is so great is because Eric does not sell a product he can't be 100% behind
4) Good luck getting a mini that was made in the one and only ever production.

Just to be clear, it was. i know others "claim mini" when they are not. If Eric questions this I will explain to him how I got it, same with NOB. I just want to make sure no one thinks I sold something other than what it is. NOB you can call me and I will tell you how I obtained it anytime.

A hair short of being 2" in diameter? Can you please post a picture of your phunnel with ruler? The smallest of the minis came from the last batch made and that was ~2-1/4". Previous batches did not come out that small, more like 2-1/2" to 2-5/8" if you got a good one. If John sent you the last of the ones I know he had then it is definitely not just over 2". The smallest of those was 2-9/16".

Butt hurt? Is that directed at me? It doesn't bother me at all that you bought a mini from John. I snooze I lose? You were not the first or even the second to have their pick at the minis he came across. If you care to find out, ask John the next time you talk to him in private when I had picked from them. Whether or not you can get a mini has no impact on my ability to.

I asked for pics because I wanted to know what you were measuring to come up with the "a hair short from being only 2'' in diameter" statement you had made. FWIW, target sizes for phunnels are based on the OD. Without clarification it can sound like you have the smallest mini in existence, which is not true because they did not come out anywhere near that small until the most recent batch made, which yours did not come from. To my knowledge, the smallest of those minis (and prettiest IMO) is reserved and not for sale.

Measuring the ID of phunnels in general is a poor measure of comparison because bowl walls and slopes vary greatly and lighting/perspective can skew what they appear to measure in pics, which is especially true for certain glazes. OD is a better objective measurement because although actual bowl size is affected by wall thickness and the center hole, it provides an actual hard edge to measure. Depth also comes into play but that seems to be more consistent among bowls that I've actually measured. Different glazes can make them appear much deeper or shallower than they really are.

Here are some pics to show how perspective makes them appear smaller when pics are taken up close. The first is a blue small, the second is the green/blue mini:



Despite what the pics show the blue small measures 2-5/8" in OD and the mini measures 2-9/16".

For further clarification, the blue small is definitely on the small size, smaller than some minis even. The black mini is very small for a mini also but not the smallest I've come across or chosen from. I don't pick bowls based on size alone.
