Neil's butt boy.
Golden Hookah CharcoalGolden charcoals are made in Japan and are authentic high-quality Japanese coals. They are not Japanese imitations that are made in China. The box contains 24 silver sticks, with four tablets on each stick for a total of 96 pieces. These coals are a top choice among hookah connoisseurs. If you are a Tangier's smoker then this is the coal most recommended by Eric of Tangiers.well is it China or Japan LOL

Literally.
ih303
I've got some coming in the mail today. I'm looking forward to trying them. Up to this point, I've hated Japanese coals. But I think the ones I've tried have been Chinese knockoffs that just plain suck.

The contenders were AF Nats, CH Nats, and Cocos. I plan on writing it up on the forum when I get a chance. I think people will be surprised at the results. Bulldog_916
I like the Chinese imitation easy-lites. Hella cheap, yea they dont last a ton of time or anything but you can buy 3 boxes for the price of 1 box of coconaras or CH naturals. They provide good enough heat for Tangiers 98% of the time. I like em personally.

I like em personally.Have you tried GC's to compare to the Chines "easy-lite" brand? I'm not a fan of GC's, mainly bc of the price for the quantity, they are ok coals, but the chinese knock offs? those give off the worst flavor and even give me a head ache. if you haven't tried the GC's but like the way silver tabs perform, try some GC's and tell us if there is a big difference, actually try them for a week and then go back to the chinese ones and honestly tell us if there is a difference. i definitely think there is. but that price tag is lot for what you get. it's not that the retailers or even importers are being greedy or expensive but i have contacted a couple of manufacturers in Japan regarding the manufacturing of this product. the price was just too high from there. i'm not questioning the reasons, but it is what it is..or was, that idea is gone now.anyways, back on track, bulldog, let us know. Bulldog_916
Honestly, I've tried both and at times one after the other and I cant tell the difference minus how they ash, a little smell when heating, and the amount of heat differential. The GC's put off a little less heat which makes them more Tangiers-friendly I think. You can put more coal on and not have a burned bowl. With the easy-lites, I'm not put off by them at all. The tobacco is still rich and flavorful. I think some people are more sensitive to the small differences in coals. Like for example if you took 2 versions of white grape, one from Nakhla Mizo, the other from AF, some people wouldnt be able to tell the difference honestly, some would tell you there's a huge difference. I guess it depends on your body and how it reacts to the situation it's in.
lyingsideways
I use the Easy-Lite and Blown brands pretty much exclusively, and while they're a bit different from the GC's, it's not nearly enough to be worth the price difference.
