fcbayern
I dont really watch american football for this very reason, but I saw this article and had to comment. Why not let people celebrate how ever they want to? Why cant they spike the ball in the end zone and do a dance? Why cant soccer player take off their shirts and run around like mad men? This is stupid.http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-c...o&type=lgns
Charley
It sounds reasonable to me.your looking at this as if its a game as most ppl do but it is not its a business. think of it in terms of a store for a second. there going to advertise brand A because there selling brand A. but there not going to advertise brand B if only there competitors sell it. altho to be fair in this case its more about how the product is advertised. they follow rules the same as we follow laws. your higherd to promote brand A and you glue fliers up to walls your fine your doing what you were higherd to do but then you think hey more ppl will see it if i glue them to the sides of cars and you may be right but now your in violation of the law. and its not even much different than this message board we all agree to follow the rules set forth by those who created it.I myself am a medical advicest but i do not talk about what i advocate here because I agreed not to. these players agreed not to advertise on the field. there is no difference. r1v3th3ad
I understand where they are coming from...they don't want the game in itself to become a privateering advertising arena for players and sponsors...as they said, its guerrilla themed advertising. Why would I watch a business? If I wanted to watch a business I will watch MSNBC. I guess it all boils down to greed and money, even if the money generated is going to charity. IMO this is a HUGE FAIL on the NFL's part.I see it like this.. the NFL is basically saying "if your going to give away money for a player to just stand a certain way, that money must be given directly to the NFL, it cannot be given to charity.. GREED!

Why would I watch a business? If I wanted to watch a business I will watch MSNBC. I'm not sure that this is the only point here. For me, it also comes down to sportsmanship and class. I've seen some celebrations that are straight up mocking the other team. Some teams, like the Colts, have strict codes of conduct for their players which I think are critical for team sports today.Don't follow soccer as much, so don't really know the state of the game there.
