Mya Qt Pics And Vids

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just wanted to share some pics and vids of me smoking my QT with Mizo Guava. It's kinda windy, and I couldn't take very big hits because it was a bit harsh for some reason (must've done something wrong, oh well). Also, this is the first time using my makeshift ghetto foil windcover (thanks to Ryno for suggesting this).

Feel free to add your own pics and vids of you smoking your QT, or whatever other hookah you may have. I was slightly disappointed with my clouds, but oh well. I'll post more later when I have different sessions, maybe I'll get 'em bigger.

Wind covers increase the amount of heat so I'm guessing the harshness was on account of that. Also I find that no matter what the size of my coals (be them freshly lit or almost out) putting a wind cover on makes the shisha burn if they're CCNs.

You know, that's probably what it was. But I kinda don't know what else to do... Without a windcover, the wind makes the coals' life diminish VERY quickly. So I guess it's either have shorter sessions (or just use more coals), or use the windcover and have some harshness... I don't know. I'll play around with it a bit and see what I can figure out.

could you take a card board box.... cut the top and bottom out and down one of the sides.... then put the hookah next to the wall and put the box around it.... so you still have a barrier with the wind but the coals dont heat up

Definitely too much heat that's why it's harsh, use less coal with the wind cover. I know with the small phunnel bowl you're using, 2 coals should be enough and then when those are beat another 2 in the opposit spots and so on. I find Mizo Guava to be pretty good standing up to heat. If you were not using the wind cover 3 coals would be perfect indoors. If it got harsh I would go down to 2 and purge and just start over adding the third coal back after a little while placing the coals in the shape of a V. After those coals are done I reverse the V and get to the unused shisha that way.

cardboard + heating element (coals) = flaming patio

i've had some bad results with wind covers, they can be tricky. i'd recommend just making one that looks like the wind covers you buy. wrap some foil around a large can or something and then crimp in the top, but leave a decent sized hole and cut a few smaller holes around the wind cover either a little above or below where the coals would go on the bowl. that way, you'll get some fresh air circulation around the head, but not enough to kill your coals.

Yep, this is what I'm doing next.

You put WAY too much effort into that windcover. I usually just rip off about 5-6in of foil, wrap it around, and crunch it at the top, opening it and closing it as needed. I'll take a pic next time I am smoking.

Id say you are using too much coal, I'm surprised you didn't burn the fuck out of that bowl. I use 3 CH coals MAX on a small phunnel. I usually get by with 2 and a windcover. Just remember, sometimes the phunnel bowls take a few min to heat up, and then once they are hot, they take quite a while to cool down, hence why they are great bowls. Think of them like a pizza stone.

Yeah man, I know I put too much effort into it. I'm anal, lol. As for the coal, it's only two Coconaras cut in halves. I'll try to half-ass effort method and report back, lol.

Hey awsome to see some one else using the "foil crown" method.Personally I think its the best working wind cover.
And Nice work you did on that one I like to make one that will hold up for a good month.
Also as the coals die down you can pinch the top of the foil crown together to bring the heat up.
Actually I start the out with it pinched together to get it going faster then open it up once its going then close it back up when the coals start to die down....

awsome balcony by the way

I'm guessing me and Del's windcover look about the same. The foil windcovers work great and they add more heat, so you could probably take one of those halves of coals off and with the windcover it should be about the same as all four halves

Try using 3 1/2 and the windcover. 4 1/2 are too much for me when using the cover... That may help
