Tangiers Success!

Recommended Posts

Saw Goody posted his tangiers success, so I thought i would share mine too. I was having a lot of troubles until I learned how to pack it and manage the heat. This isn't the best session I had with Tangiers, but it was good none the less, and my friends girlfriend was taking pictures, so this is the one i got.

yay for tang!

ya, I do like the mini mya i got off you, it makes me jsut want to get rid of the QT. But, I always wub.gif my KM, which is what I was using.

I was actually using a mini phunnel (well, small, but its dimensions are that of a mini pretty well) with a tea light mod for this session, eek! I have learned real quick that if you pack Tangiers w/o the mod, it smokes a ton better. wish I had pics from that session...maybe next time though.

haha, thanks, ya, I like your theory NoB, but I got it to work before the modship came...but, we can still pretend eh? wink.gif

click, I packed the fuck out of it with my oyster fork. When I thought I had enough, I put a bit more in, squished it down with my fork, and instead of just lifting up on the fork, I pressed down, and slid it on the rim of the bowl. I noticed if I lift up on the fork, sometimes the shisha sticks to the fork, so its not as compressed down as needed. By sliding it, i keep the pressure on it.

Also, when I packed it, I packed it a bit hight on the OD and a little lower on the ID, making sure the shisha didn't go above the middle phunnel hole. I think then squished it down with foil, took that foil off, and put a new piece on and made sure it was tight as fuck, then poked my oyster fork holes like Eric showed in his vid.

Thats how I have been packing tangy, but in this pic with the mod, I packed the shisha tight, and just lifted up on the mod a little to allow a decent amount of air to still flow. From now on I don't plan to use the mod anymore with tangiers unless i don't have enough to fill the bowl. I still might use the mod when i am smoking other shishas though....we'll see.

You should come over sometime, YOU can smoke with me anytime you want wink.gif haha

I use John's CH QLs. I would like to try some all natural coals, but i dont have the means to light them or the patients, so John's CH QLs are good enough, great coals btw. I was using a foil windcover, but walt sold me one of his tangiers fitting windcovers, so I use that. Normally, I either use my mini or my small tangiers phunnel, and my smalls are damn close to the mini size, and on that bowl, i find 2 CH coals on opposite sides works great. I don't bother cutting them, i feel they last longer uncut and with the windcover on there, it traps in the head and distributes it well enough anyway. Plus, I still think the tangiers phunnels are made of something similar to pizza stones, so they alone are good at distributing the heat. I always am tempted to add a third, but every time I do, it gets harsh or taste like coals. As for managing them, I normally just let it be until i notice the clouds aren't 100%, then i take the windcover off, scrape the ash off the coals, flip them, and rotate them 180º and then replace the windcover.

Seriously though, if you need any more help of info, let me know. And, if you are even in the area (southeast missouri) stop by and I can show you first hand....as long as its a weekend.

Ahh, sounds good, thank you! My phunnel bowl and ch ql's aren't getting here until the 24th then, so i'll have to wait to try your method. Missouri is too far from Ohio though :[

It was either Cactus Fruit or BGB. Normally, I have been putting cherry kool-aid in the vase, makes the taste even that much better.

And ya, it was my friends girlfriend, not mine. I'm still single sad.gif

I'm really thinking I need to make a vid, combine my Tangiers packing with my quick connect hoses and put it all in one. Maybe I can try to find time this weekend.
