Enjoivolcom
Shisha- al waha orange creamHookah- 32" KM triCoals- 3 coco'sFoil- HDI sprinkle it in and build it up so it goes a little over the rim so when I put the foil on it doesn't stick to the hole.I poke 3 rings of holes and none in the middle. I start the bowl with 2 coals on the edge the add another in 5 minutes or so, so I can get bigger clouds. I'm tasting a lot of coal and this normally doesn't happen, even with 2 coals. What's my problem?
lasagna
I've never smoked Al Waha, but I find if I use 3 coals for anything I burn it. If I put a wind cover when I have 2 on I burn it as well, although I do get much bigger clouds. Since you mentioned this hasn't happened before I assume it's worked in the past without bad taste? Also, I don't pack it so much, I sprinkle it in until it's just under the rim and then I even it out, and it works fine for me; but to each his own. What kind of bowl are you using? ilikemyusername
is this a phunnel bowl or what here? I'd say stop using ql's if you're tasting "coal" you may just have a bit too much heat so what you perceive as coal may be tobacco burning. lasagna
I agree, I didn't mind quick lights until I bought my first box of Coco's. One time picked up a coco and for some reason squeezed too hard, the tongs crushed it..needed another coal on and didn't feel like heating up another coco so used a quick light laying around my garage...disgusting, didn't take more than 3 draws before calling it quits. Canon
try 2 coals and a windcover, make sure the coals are red hot before you put them on, also smell them before you put them on, if they have a coal smell they arent done, if they have a bug spray type of smell/no smell then they are good to use. ih303
I find cocos burn hotter in the beginning than any other coal I've tried. It makes it really easy to scorch a bowl if you're not careful.I'd keep your hole pattern, and pack the baccy a little tighter. Are you sure it's the coals you're tasting and not burnt syrup? I mean, does it burn your throat or just taste bad? Edited November 19, 2009 by ih303

vballpro
Has this happened with any other tobacco? Or just this one flavor? It definitely sounds like a heat management problem.
Stuie
Sounds like a Al Waha problem.. hahaha jkI agree with Canon on this one. 3 too much 2 + Windcover = WIN!

This was the first time, I don't think I had too little shisha, it was filled past the rim and slightly packed in. The taste isn't harsh it just tasted like half coal and half shisha. First time its happened in awhile

ryno
I agree with the too much heat. You can try 2 coals and windcover, or try splitting them in halves.
dizzbizz
+1 for splitting them in halves, also I agree the hole pattern isn't good. I used that and didn't get good results all the times I've tried. So I'd say punch the three rings and then fill in the two gaps between the holes.
