I think people are scared to buy them. I would be. Each box now comes with a jar of Gabe's sperm.

sorry guys, i can't compete with that, no requests please.

How about a lock of hair?

I like them personally. Just picked up another box over the weekend. Every once in a while one will break apart but it isnt a big deal unless you're really anal about that kind of thing. I cut the thirds into halves and use the 6ths for Tangiers. No fail as of yet. Nothing but yummy sessions.

I have some. They're solid coals but I wish they weren't scored. The pieces are way too big to use on a bowl and its difficult to break them into smaller pieces since they're already in thirds.

All you have to do is take the edge of a knife, hold it to the coal where you want it broken and rap the outside edge with a hammer or other heavy blunt object. Clean cut 99% of the time.

Just make sure not to tilt the knife or it has more potential to break at an odd angle giving you the wrong size.

This works for coconut coals too.

I do this to Ch coconut coals to use them with Tangiers, only I use this wedge/pick I found in my garage when I moved in. It's like a mini ice pick.

The new Exoticas are too hard/thick to get a clean cut most of the time for me, thats what I usually try to do. Maybe I just need to hit them harder.

I like these a lot, they last much longer, the coals last a little over an hour with great constant heat, the ash also doesnt flake off easily so it doesnt fall off into the bowl. The ash is almost clay like, its Greyish/white not BROWN. I like the new Exoticas a lot better...

try scoring the exoticas with a knife beforehand, I forgot to add that. Been a while since I've used them.

I think Gabe is a real nice guy. Used to send me text messages on major holidays. He has put some people off, but I think the jizz comments are a little over the line. I'm sure I'm in the minority. Hate the product if you want, but think about he must feel to read the comments. Saying you don't like the quality of his product is one thing, he might be inclined to improve them...if he has any control over that. Badmouth the guy and he might just not give a shit. Some people like Exoticas, he's had some problems with quality in the past...hopefully these problems are all straightened out? They sound like they're pretty good, the world needs more coconut coals. ermm.gif

Lots of coals vary in quality. Japanese coals for instance, vary between 15.6g/bar and 18.8g/bar. They vary per box and case, however. That is, one case will be entirely 18.8g bars, in each box. Another case will be entirely 16.5g bars, and another case will be entirely 15.5g bars and they do vary in performance. The heavier ones performing better. Whats also strange is 50 cases will be 18.8g...then 100 cases will be 16.5g, then 50 cases will be 15.5g. Like its planned somehow or something like that. The question is...does Canary know they vary (being tricked by the manufacturer or the distributor) or are they unwitting? The same thing might be true for Gabe, too. The product might be varying without him knowing about it. In terms of Canary's...I think they know they vary...thats why the heaviest ones come first, then the medium ones, then the light ones. For Gabe, he might not know the quality of them until they get there.

Thats why there's Hookah Forum...to tell you how good the current editions are. smile.gif

i bought about 15 boxes of the lightweight exoticas. i believe 4-5 pieces jumped off of the burner onto my kitchen counter/floor. the others had dark colored ash to them. They burned cooler then the old exoticas/ coco's and they didnt last worth crap. that caused me to use up more coal per bowl and recoal a bowl more often.

one day i might try another box out to see where they stand but i want to make sure the quality is up to par

The new exoticas are much better. All I can say is try them out for your self, every time I light them in my room now I dont feel like I am getting suffocated by mustard gas by a Nazi Zombie smile.gif Where I see the most improvement is ash and longevity.
