Nakhla and Tangiers are the best two brands, IMO. You may want to start out on Nakhla and Al Fakher (third best brand, IMO).

Again, all my opinion... lol. That's all you're gonna get on here. People like different things.

As for flavor, it's up to what you think would taste good to you. Edited by INCUBUSRATM

I'd recommend Fusion along with Nakhla and Tangiers Lucid. Fusion and Lucid are washed, meaning they have a low nicotine content, and less of a buzz. Nakhla is unwashed and has a nice buzz to it.

I love Lucid, it's molasses based so my bowls have good staying power, but it's washed so you're not buzzing hard. My favorite flavors are Mimon, Chocolate Cherry and Horchata. I'm a pretty big noob too though, I just thought I'd throw in my two cents smile.gif

top brands i would recommend to noobs:
1. Al Fakher - pretty damn good smoke, pretty legit flavors, inexpensive, wide variety of flavors (doesn't mean they're all good), excellent 'starter' tobacco
2. Nakhla - holds up to heat about as well as on oven, good smoke, good buzz (if you're into that), extremely affordable, pretty good starter tobacco - if you can take the nicotine and buzz
3. Tangiers Lucid - absolutely delicious, wonderful clouds, pretty good flavor selection and just about all of them are good, a bit pricey, no 50g size sample packs, pretty finicky with the heat.

i would really recommend you start off with al fakher, it's pretty hard to mess it up. also, nakhla has a separate line called mizo, it's very similar to al fakher and really delicious. the watermelon and guava are delicious. AF mint is pretty good too, but i only really like it for mixing.

if you like coffee flavors i would go with AF cafe latte. i heard their chocolate is pretty good too, but haven't personally tried it. but my hopes are high because i just went through a tangiers lucid 250g cocoa pretty quickly.

try what sounds good to you, but i would stay away from any strawberry flavor from just about any brand. they aren't the easiest to make apparently, because most on the market are pretty weak.

I would recommend Al Fakher, Romman, Fumari, Fantasia and Starbuzz for new smokers because there all easy to prep/set-up, offers huge clouds and taste great. AF strawberry is actually good if you like that candy strawberry taste. If you're on a limited budget, then Al Fakher would be the deal.

I would think Tangiers, Nakhla and other unwashed tobacco would be more for experienced users as they build a higher buzz tolerance. Earlier tonight was the first time my gf and I smoked Mizo Nakhla. The buzz was great and high for being a Al Fakher smoker. However, my gf threw up after few hits. The smoke was great but if the OP is truly a "noob", he/she shouldn't dive right into the "hardcore" stuff.

When I have someone come into the lounge that has never smoked before, I almost always direct them to Starbuzz.

Now hold on... put the pitchforks and torches away. Hear me out.

IMO, a first time smoker is only interested in a couple of things. Sweetness and smoothness. Listen, guys. New smokers have nothing to compare to. They have no frame of reference. They don't know what an "authentic" flavor tastes like. They don't know artificial vs natural flavors in shisha. They don't know honey vs molasses in the base. Nothing. All they want is something sweet and smooth. And SB gives them both.

Personally, the sweetness of SB gives me a headache. But that's not the case for most nub smokers. They love the sweetness! With SB, it's like chewing a piece of Bubble Yum - Super sweet at first, but quick to die out. But let's be honest here. How long do you really think a new smoker's gonna smoke? We see people come into the lounge all the time who have never smoked. They order a phunnel of tangiers lucid and smoke it for like 20min then leave. It makes me want to cry.

The smoothness is based on how big a "sweet spot" a tobacco has, and we all know SB has a massive sweet spot. You really have to try to get SB to burn or scorch.

In addition, SB has all those cheesy and sexy names like "Code 69" and "Blue Mist" that hookah novices just eat up. I'm telling you, I think SB is the baby food of baccy's - it's sweet, smooth, and goes down easy. But at some point, most everyone gets weened off the stuff and moves on to the "big boy" brands. smile.gif

Very helpful thread. About Starbuzz: guy at my local shop tried to push some on me yesterday. I'm a noob too, but as soon as I smelled it I knew it was for casuals and very inexperienced. If I wants candy, I'll go to the candy store.

I've seen a flood of good mojo towards AF orange lately. And it's priced very well. I'm gonna pick some up tonight with my new hookah.

i like ih303's thinking...SB is a good starter tobacco since it's hard to mess up. great for a casual smoker...i'd say AF is a better option, if it wasn't so hit or miss with consistency....so, yeah...SB for your first smoke...

then once you get tired of SB, maybe move on to Nakhla...

if you're an established smoker...Nakhla would be a good start...
