Different Packing Methods?

Recommended Posts

your question is kinda vague. Have you checked out mattarios's tutorial? It is really helpful for packing nak as it works well packed a little tighter. Different brands just require different methods, find out what works for you and just remember expirement.

There are several factors to be considered when approaching a brand of sheesha to pack it.

On the left is the condition that would lead you to pack it lighter, on the right the condition that would lead you to pack it heavier.

There's lots of juice in the tobacco (wet).........There's not that much juice in there (dry)
The juice tends to be watery.........The juice tends to be slippery or oily.
The tobacco is cut small..........The tobacco is cut large.
The tobacco's cut is ribbony..........The tobacco's cut is squarish.
The tobacco's cut is very regular.........The tobacco's cut is irregular.
The tobacco has few stems in it.........The tobacco has lots of stems in it.
The consistency of the tobacco is sticky........The consistency of the tobacco is loose
The tobacco has lots of artificial color in it...........The tobacco has little or no artificial color in it.
The tobacco is honey based.....the tobacco is corn syrup/glucose syrup based......the tobacco is molasses based.
The aroma of the tobacco is stingy or not very pronounced..........The aroma of tobacco is quite pronounced.
The tobacco is washed..............the tobacco is unwashed.
The weather is hot......the weather is cool
The humidity is low.........the humidity is high.

Hopefully that helps....even a little. People often talk about tobacco in standards, like Tangiers-Pack, Nahkla-Pack, etc. to give a general idea for how heavy. I think, in general, Tangiers packs are the heaviest, then Nahkla, then Romman, then Al Fahker, then Starbuzz, then Fantasia being one of the lightest. If anybody disagrees with the ranking of the packing, please speak up.

Even within Tangiers, there are different packs I use. Horchata has one of the lightest packs for Tangiers, Kashmirs the heaviest. Mints are almost as heavy as Kashmirs, fruity flavors after that and candy flavors being lighter still...some fruity flavors need heavier packs, like watermelon, others need lighter packs, like melon blend. I'm sure variances don't make that much of a difference (packing horchata and Kashmir the same), but for optimal results. The same thing is true for other brands as well...like Nahkla. The original line should be packed heavier than Al Basha which should be packed heavier than Mizo. Sherazade, I'm not so sure about. Never tried it. The pack on double apple is one of the heaviest...melon and cola lighter. I haven't packed Al Waha in awhile...but back in the day, I would pack some flavors much heavier than other. Al Waha, in general should be packed approximately like Romman, in my opinion. Fusion is similar to Starbuzz in pack. Layalina is somewhere close to Al Fakher. I haven't played around with Golden Layalina, so I wouldn't be bold enough to offer a strong opinion, I would think its similar to Starbuzz though. Hookah Hookah and Hookah Freak seem to need very light packs....even lighter than Fantasia.

These are all my opinions, of course.

I realized that for the last 2-3 bowls of a package of Tangiers the cut is smaller and more regular. The bigger leaves are the first that come into the bowl. Should I pack that bowls lighter than the first bowls?

+1

I pack Romman tight ... if it's Cola flavor not as tight... af I usually pack that shit in ...Tang Pack that sweet glory in with my Oyster Fork wink.gif (still getting the hang of that though)

and I haven't tried anything else really but because of how I pack when I go to a hookah lounge I can tell if they pack it or throw it in ...I love it when they pack it and loath when they toss it in..but if it's a packed night eh I'm not one to bit the hand of the one serving me..thats a big mistake cool.gif
