Jacob Shock
ok guys over the past week ive been expiementing with tangiers in an egyption bowl.by golly it works, just as good as a phunnel... kind of.i pack it like tangiers, use a little less hole than i would a phunnel (because the tobacco is mor concentratied in one area). and dont go ovekill on the heat.of corse the tobacco dont last as long, but it will ive through 1 round of coals (CH hookah).this is great for being conservaitve. with your coals or tobacco if your cheep, or just want a short session.there is however a down side. i think the draw is not as good. and i have burn it twice, witch is my fault.in gonna try it with double layers of renolds heavy dutty, if that works im gonna try more holes depending how it goes.im on a quest to get tangiers to smoke great from an egyption. at first it was week flavor and harsh buy i am perfecting the technique. foibled again
Of course it works. How do you think Tangiers was smoked before the phunnel bowl was created?
Jacob Shock
good point.i wanna see if i can get it to smoke as good as it can in a phunnel though.
Zinite
I tried it for a couple weeks. You can get it smoking fine, it just will never last as long. I did it by placing my thumb in the center of the bowl, and packing the Tangiers tightly around my thumb. When you lift the thumb, there is a phunnel-like ring of tightly packed tangiers, with a large hole in the center. Lasts about an hour in a medium sized Egyptian bowl. Sonthert
Yeah phunnels are a relatively recent development. I used to use a standard bowl all the time and get good results. The one great thing is that an over pack (if it draws air well) will clear in an Egyptian bowl, but it will be hours in a phunnel.
