frost91
So i stopped by a hookah shop and bought some shisha nd spoke to the guy who was from egypt about khalil mamooms. in his shop he carries them. but he he told me how the best selling hookahs are the chinese ones. he started off on a rant about how china is a great country and how everything from his pen to his textbook, when he was a child, was made from china. (i am chinese, thats how the topic came about). He mentioned how they have the best designs and how they have so many different varieties. I guess he doesnt know that after a few months it rusts and breaks(ive owned one as well). I wouldve bought his whole shpeel about chinese hookahs if i wasnt part of this forum. So thanks! inino
Something to remember: Just cuz the guy is Middle Eastern and sell Hookahs doesnt mean he is an expert on the subject. Most of family back in the middle east smoke hookah almost every day and have no idea who KM is.On a second note there are people who really love chinese pipes and swear by them. Not me personally, but I can see why they appeal to people so much.
hookah hippie
you don't have to be an expert on anything to sell it especially things like pipes where there aren't many experts
SloppyJoe
Every shop I've been to that sells hookah stuff the guys that work there literally don't know shit about anything. They think they know and give me false information which I know right away is false, or they just don't care. I think they'd make more money if they actually knew wtf they were talking about. If he would sell a quality hookah and give good, honest, recommendations, he would make a lot more money.I used to work retail in an electronics store, on commission. But when people were looking at products that were overpiced, sub par, or cheaper at other locations. I let them know. Sure I lost business when they went to other stores or even websites I recommended. But time and time again they came back for the huge purchases to me because they trusted my opinion and knew I wouldn't steer them wrong for a buck. Most smallers Myas wholesale around $8-$15, and retail for $25-$60. KMs are probably only marked up 100-200% or so. Chinese stuff is marked up 200-400%. More if it comes with a case (that wholesale around $.50). Knock-off Myas even moreso. Not all Chinese hookahs are made alike. Myas are far more reliable than their knock-off counterparts from what retailers tell me. I don't know personally...I wouldn't have a Chinese hookah for sale or for use in my lounge. Some of the small Egyptian hookahs that compete with Chinese hookahs in size and price aren't too bad. Worth their price tag. I had a couple of small Syrians for sale a year ago or so...awesome small hookahs. Wish I could get more of them.LG: I completely agree with your mindset. I like the cut of your jib. I like the cut of your jib. true that, i picked one up locally at half the price of a QT and imo it's a hell of a lot better, aesthetically and functionally – despite being a female stem (a superior design in your opinion, i know). Jacob Shock
Myas are just as good as km in my opinion. the problem is for a mya equivalent to a km cost so much more than a km.

Canon
MYA's make great hookahs, I stand by them more now then i do KM's (still smoke out of my tri-metal 99% of the time). thing is though theres a lot of KM's out there for sell at 20-40$ more then 2 years ago and the quality does not match the price. you can save money and get a nice Egyptian online that will smoke as good as a KM (granted, the draw might not be as easy or the purge as well but its more solid) i believe that if your buying a mya you will be getting more bang for your buck (quality wise). Giant Ninja Robot
I enjoy being so close to a major hookah hub because shop owners generally know what's up. Nice to be able to really talk to them about the hobby with less BS.However it's great to have the upperhand and ability to filter BS. Help's getting a good price too. ih303
I try to learn as much as I can so I can provide as much info as possible when selling my wares. The problem I run into is other people's personal experience. For example, I was showing one of my partners the other day how to pack a Noir bowl, and he told me one of our regulars packed a bowl the other day much loser than I was showing him and it smoked great! I couldn't really argue with success so I told him the way I was showing him was the way most of us do it and the way Eric himself does it. But I run into that kind of thing all the time.In regards to hookahs, information on Egyptians is hard to come by. So I'm limited in what I can tell people. For instance, I mentioned in a post a while back that some guys from Saudi came in and told me that some of the hollow KM's I was selling were Syrian made. Another Saudi came in a few days later and told me that KM was just making a lot of their hookahs hollow these days. There really is no way I can accurately verify either claim so I don't really know what to think.I just do the best I can and hope the information I provide is as accurate as possible.
