IzA-Hookah
Hi guys, I am trying to get a feel of what is out there in terms of normal things to find at a good hookah bar. I have never been to one in the states so for those of you who have, give me your opinions please.
SanguineSolitude
fixed is more traditional and generally they are also more durable since the rotating segment of the hookahs acts as a weak link. In addition, the tradition of hookah smoking is a long one and only recently included rotators and multihosed hookahs. Since its such a social even, the passing of the hookah around and the rotation of the base for each person carries a sense of ceremony and (i feel) makes for a more meaningful smoking experience. I myself would never buy either a multihosed or a rotating hookah and would much rather use a fixed hookah at any hookah bar i went to.
smokinshisha4life
I've never used a multi hosed hookah, or a rotator at a hookah bar although I've only been to a few hookah bars. My brother bought a multi hosed rotator off ebay and the hit was very restrictive even if u plug the holes except one, the only multi hosed hookah id get would be a double hosed egyptian or mya but single hosed hookahs hit so much better. Every hookah bar I've been to uses tradtional egyptians or syrians.
zombiedepot
Fixed for sure. I don't care how sturdy it is, the idea of a rotating hookah is kind of scary.

OH MY GOD IT'S AFTER ME!!!

IzA-Hookah
Thanks you guys. I just want to say that I am so happy to find this forum and that it has functions like the polls. My friend called me and we were talking about buying new hookahs and he was saying "If I can make a suggestion, get rotating hookahs, that seems to be the way everyone is going now". I told him I would look into it and this is exactly what I need. I can show him the numbers and say "look, 9 to 1 against you". Myself, I would never use a rotating hookah, just been to too many real hookah places in the midde east to make an abomination of it. You guys rock. Lukasa
rotators are a bit tacky in my opinion. big hoses achieve the same thing. My next hookah might be a multi-hoser though.
SanguineSolitude
surfpico speak for yourself. I often wake up covered with sweat after having been chased for miles by a giant 12 foot tall 13 hosed rotating hookah with an ice bucket.just thought you should know. Sonthert
Rotators seal poorly and leak water frequently. In terms of hookah lounges, a lounge out here tried using rotators...since they can be picked up without worrying about the glass jars falling off...didn;t work. Biggest problem is stupid people spinning them too fast and the centripetal force throwing charcoal all over the place. I, personally, in my lounge have many fixed hookahs, I make sure the jar seals are tight enough that you could pick it up by the stem if you wanted too. The trick alot of hookah places haven;t figured out is keep stem and jar married...always.
