Yeah.Doctor: How often?Me: 3 packs of cigarettes a day. And I smoke hookah for about 3-5 hours a night.Doctor: .........Doctor: ............Doctor: So, what are you here for today? thatonethere
I'd say yes because if complications were to come up, and they are a result of smoking, things could get ugly. Especially if your insurance provider finds out. If you have the "no smoking" premium listed on your insurance, then it can be looked at as insurance fraud, resulting in a denial of benifits. Then your employer will find out (assuming you aren't self employed) and they can fire you for it. The whole scenario sounds like something unlikely to happen to anyone, but you can never be too sure. I hope this helps.

No offense, but you're not 100% on what you're talking about.I sold insurance for a few years and I'm back at it again. So let's enlighten everyone about hookah and insurance and a little medical. Now obviously it depends on what state you're in but normally 2 years is the "truth limit" so anything the insurance hasn't found out in 2 years is automatically covered (they assume if nothing popped up in 2 years it wasn't pre-exisiting)- Most insurance companies count cigs anytime in the last 12 months or any more than 12 cigars in the last year- I have insurance on myself and I've had the full examination anyone can get for insurance (simply so I could inform potential clients about the experience) and they did not detect my hookah smoking. I admitted to it, but it didn't come up in the tests (regardless of smoking the night before) so I was listed as a non-smoker. - Insurance companies are just now getting the idea of Hookah but even so there are no conclusive health reports to determine how those people should legally be rated. Your choice how to handle it, but generally hookah will not effect any test unless you're one of the hardcore smoker which means probably on the fact that you don't exercise as much (since you're smoking when you could exercise lol) will pop up. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
The Caterpillar
Thanks everyone for your input Non-smoker it is. I think attempting to quantify shisha in a "packs/day" measurement does our whole culture an injustice. In light of how bastardized cigarette tobacco is in contrast to the simple molasses+raw tobacco formula, I don't feel I'm being fraudulent at all when I say I'm a non-smoker. Interesting to note she also states that the second leading cause of lung cancer is hormone replacement therapy in women. Way to go medical community! Though I'm obviously biased, I haven't noticed any change in my cardio workouts since I've started smoking in the last year. And on days when I'm congested, I find a good bowl of mint/clove or mint/cardamom gives my respiratory system a bit of a cleanse. Much like raiders used to rub citrus/menthol/clove oil in their moustaches to keep their respiratory system in check during tomb robberies, I feel like it has its benefits
atticus
Yeah, whenever I give blood I always get asked if I smoke. When I say hookah, telling the confused nurse "you know, a pipe" usually is enough for them to go "hmm" and then pretend to write something on the form and forget about it.And not to totally derail the thread, but where did the tomb raider story come from? I'm not doubting you, its an awesome story, but I can't think of a situation where that info would come up. Unless you know, you rob tombs... Fair question If you go to any holistic shop that carries therapeutic oils, you will find one called "Spice Traders" in a few different brands. The lore is easy to follow from there. It's been around for centuries. I based my mixture of therapeutic smokes off of oils as they both rely on respiration. Great smell and helps decongest when you have a cold. Sonthert
Until the newest legislation regarding tobacco was passed, pipe tobacco was not required to have a health warning on it. The Surgeon General found no increase in mortality rate in pipe smokers. Its dangerous, but not in the way cigarettes are. Its a different risk set. Somebody was telling me the other night that brier pipe smokers (and hookah smokers) were not considered smokers for medical purposes. They are only looking for cigarettes and to a lesser extent, cigars. Don't quote me on that though...I'm a Tobacco Manufacturer. I'm just this side of having a reserved seat in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks. Everything I say is a lie. In fact, I'm lying right now.
