Riktar
Hey all,I've been lurking about these forums for a while now, and well i've seen some WILD and crazy ish lol some VERY helpful other just... wow lol. I decided to contribute as well i guess. This isn't my idea so i'm not taking any credit i've used two DIY's mixed and matched and basically went from there.(the two DIYS were http://www.hookahforum.com/?showtopic=31911 and http://www.hookahforum.com/?showtopic=32161).Items used-3/4 PVC-5/8 Clear tubing-1-1/8"Furniture rubber stoppers (lol )-Cobra Handles (picked these up for 5 bucks at a local hookah shop)-3/4x3/4 BARB hose fittings (looked something like this http://images.orgill.com/200x200/0034900.jpg)-Loctite Stick n Seal Ultra (this stuff is awesome!)-First step was to actually get the PVC piping which was relatively easy and cheap bought enough for 2 handles and a half from home depot for about $1.68, Cut the right side handle and then proceed to sand the ends to ensure a clean tight seal later on. it should look a little something like this by now(hose just to ensure the fit)-Second step is to go ahead and sand down the outside of the PVC pipe in case you want to paint/tape/glue anything to the outside i had a couple pieces of carbon fiber fabric laying around from an install on my car a while back so i went ahead and used this since it's waterproof, stain proof, and super resistant. I admit i wouldn't buy this just for this install as this fabric ran me 40 bux for 1 yard (brand of the cf is Eurodyne if anyone is actually interested in spending that much lol).. so not really cheap. I used 3m 90 spray adhesive which is basically a permanent bond http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31pq...L500_AA280_.jpg and wrapped the PVC. By now the PVC pipe looked like this.(Once again hoses just for fitment)-Third step was to get the hose fitting sanded in order to have it slide into the PVC pipe. The Hose fitting is already 3/4 but had threads so i had to sand the threads down a bit and basically worked the hexagonal shape in the middle down to a circle. once i sanded it down enough i went ahead and applied the Loctite around the sides and secured it in there. Once it was in i went ahead and added an extra bead of adhesive in between where the PVC and the hose fitting met and let that sit for about 9 hours. It says 24 hrs to full strength so i wouldn't mess with it much but within 10 15 minutes it was dry. Your hose should now look like this.-Fourth step was to take the Rubber stoppers and cut a small hole in the middle (since it's rubber it will expand so try to cut it a bit smaller than the actual hose for a better air tight connection.) and basically repeat that process 4 times. the holes were about this bigThis is how they looked like with the handles inserted-Fifth and final step is assembly which by now seems simple enough but i'll go ahead and show a layout.Top one is assembled obviously and bottom one includes all the components in the right order. If all is done corrected you should have a end product that looks a little something like this.Hope you enjoyed the DIY. and hopefully this is the first of many contributions to the forums.Big thanks to foibled again and indian villager for their DIY's.-Riktar
elsemyano
nice! clean assembly. also looks a lot like del sol's hoses (thread: http://www.hookahfor...howtopic=32655 )which i believe he based on bulldog's guide. haha, so this is a giant hybrid of all of them. you could also get extra fittings to connect the pvc to the barb hose fittings (see above thread), so you don't have to sand down the threads & hexagon. also, how the eff did you get the hole in the rubber stoppers so perfectly circular?! i know they're not really necessary, but unless you bought them like that, that's impressive... Riktar
for the Hose fitting i used a dremel with a grinding bit lol, takes a couple mins but it was worth it. I never saw that DIY lol, but i see what you mean i just though just doing it like that and if the loctite didn't hold i was going to attempt that but it did plus i felt getting it to fit inside the PVC tubing would look a bit cleaner.as fas ar the rubber topper i used dremel with drill bill then a sanding bit lol.
