EAK1791
So, my parents still treat me like I live at home, and want to get me a big Christmas present this year, like they have in years past. I honestly couldn't think of anything to ask for, then I thought, "I could ask for a replacement to my shitty China-mad hookah!" My parents just found out that I smoke about 2 months ago (I'm only 18), and they say that they "don't really care" that I do it. It's kinda a 50/50 chance that they will actually say yes to it. But if they do, I need help. I'm not really sure what kind of hookah I should ask for, or where I should tell them to order it from. Around $150 would be about the limit. So if anyone has any suggestions, send them my way, and maybe I can get myself a shiny new hookah for Christmas!

inino
with a budget of 150 and being newly introduced to the hobby I would say check out some Mya's. They are china made as well, but much better than whatever you are using right now. Only reason I wouldnt recommend getting a KM is cuz when I first started I wanted something that looked pretty to show all my friends. You could be different so if traditional is your thing go for it then, but here are some Mya's. http://www.hookah-shisha.com/c-241-mya-hoo...ay-hookahs.htmlThey all smoke very well, I personally prefer the taller ones. Here are some KM's too if you want to check them out. http://hookahcompany.com/egyptian_hookahs_1_ctg_1.htm
antouwan
imo can't go wrong with a KM in the 30" range. in my experience, anything over 36" is too big to be practical. everyone that carries temsah that owns one said that they're just as durable, if not more so than a km, and they smoke about the same as well. for some reason i can get my eyes off of the thaqib that HC has up. too bad i'm having to thin down my stash, otherwise i'd be all over that. not to mention, after the hookahforum discount, it's just under $120! i've heard some great things about the hose that it comes with, as well.also, if you're into the syrian thing they have some good ones out there, but since you aren't buying it, i would tell your parents 'anything with the km name"

I am waiting for my new Mya from hooka-shisha.com. They are excellent quality and by far the BEST looking ones you can get your hands on. Sure a KM may smoke a bit better (no experience personally), but they look so bland and average (don't hate on me KM lovers). Mya's are very unique. vballpro
I agree with NOB...You already have a Chinese made hookah. Get a nice hookah that's gonna kick ass! What you should tell your parents? You can explain to them what you want...but the easiest way would be to give them a brand like KM or Temsah and maybe a color scheme. You're parents probably have no idea what a hookah is, and saying I want this design on the stem probably means absolutely nothing to them. Do your research and give them a brand, color scheme, and height...Or just make them take you shopping!

EAK1791
So, I'm seeing the consensus seems to be a KM in the 30"-40" range. Are there any smaller KMs out there. I would love to have a big hookah, and I think that some of them are pretty beautiful, but I'm living in a dorm at my university, so it might get a little hard to store. I may still ask for a big one, simply because I love the way they look, and my Chinese is a small one, if I need to transport it somewhere. I was thinking about this one: http://hookahjohn.com/product.sc?productId...mp;categoryId=8 I really like the way it looks, it comes with one of John's Narbish hoses (washable is a big plus for me) and I could also ask them for a box of John's quicklights, which I've heard rave reviews about. I was also wondering about getting a phunnel bowl. I don't smoke Tangiers, because I don't really have anywhere to acclimate it. I mostly smoke AF and shishas like it, and I have a vortex bowl that came with my original hookah. Just wondering if it makes sense to ask for a phunnel also. EAK1791
I think I'm going to ask for the KM that I linked before, and some of John's instant lights. Just one more question, though. Is it worth asking for the phunnel, even if I don't start smoking Tang?

vballpro
If you are satisfied with your vortex you don't NEED a phunnel bowl. I bought a phunnel bowl and it changed my hookah experience entirely. I would say yes do it. Especially if it's a gift! If you do ask for a phunnel though...make sure that you get the tangiers phunnel not the chinese phunnel. The tangiers phunnel is made of better material and allows for much better heat management.
