if you start to get that itch, then take the coals off and purge the hell outa it... till it starts to cool down... then place 1 less coal on the bowl and continue.....

at least thats what I do

theres your problem..your basically smoking chemicals with those..and your using alot to use them up? just throw them away man, this is something your putting in your body..only quick lights i suggest are hookah johns quick lights..they are the best in the business http://www.hookahjohn.com/product.sc?produ...mp;categoryId=6
i suggest either going with those or if you wana go natural go with john's natural coals
http://www.hookahjohn.com/product.sc?produ...mp;categoryId=6

or some coconras

also just a heads up, we are not allowed to use the C word that john's coals are named so we refer to them has john's CH coals..

Does anyone else appear to have any issues with breathing? Kind of feels like I got something in my bronchus. I dont smoke very much either. Its been several weeks. How would I know if the QL is completely lit? Ash all the way around? Cause I normally wait until its done smoking and sparking and partially covered in ash. :|

maybe your throat is just getting irritated from smoking? it happens...

or you could be getting sick...

if you're not really feeling anything during the session, it may just be irritation afterwards....

I have that same problem. I 'm not getting sick, but maybe it could be due to smoking without taking breaths of fresh air in between each time you puff. Puffing hookah is so smooth and not harsh so sometimes it can be easy to not breathe oxygen between puffs. I often catch myself not breathing properly also. Some sort of heart strenuous excersize like running helps too. It forces you to breathe more and clear out your lungs. I've found this method helpful in between hookah sessions.

the hose is only supposed to touch your lips laugh.gif

edit: seriously though, i can't really use ql's after trying to go back to 3kings i get MASSIVE headaches. i can't even use john's qls, although i can last about half way through a head on those it still isn't ideal with me. the 'fastest' lighting coals i can use are japs.

Yea, throats are sensitive creatures, they do not like abuse, particularly when it is abuse it is not used to.

When I started smoke nearly-daily after a week I had to take a break and dump the quick lights for naturals, I was definitely feeling it, and switching to naturals made all the difference in the world, actually smoked more after switching and had no problems with it at all.

I highly recommend John's CH Naturals (as I think most would). You can get a little stove for $10 from Walgreens for lighting them too, was well worth it in my book!

also if your dead set on using up all the ql's you have make sure they are fully lit before you starting taking hits..

NoB is right you can't put those suckers up on the bowl while they are still sparkling just let them sit in the tray if you have to...personally when I have QL's lying around and I want to get rid of them I light them and let them sit on the stove burner after I have lit them with the lighter or in my coal carrier until they are ready then I put them on ... but once you go with better coals it's like night and day costumed-smiley-091.gif
