SweetNut
if you start to get that itch, then take the coals off and purge the hell outa it... till it starts to cool down... then place 1 less coal on the bowl and continue.....at least thats what I do

Click
May be irritation from the QLs. Make sure you are drinking something while you smoke and see if that helps. Once you are done with the QLs buy some non-QLs.
NIGHTS OF BAGHDAD
also if your dead set on using up all the ql's you have make sure they are fully lit before you starting taking hits..
AKA
Does anyone else appear to have any issues with breathing? Kind of feels like I got something in my bronchus. I dont smoke very much either. Its been several weeks. How would I know if the QL is completely lit? Ash all the way around? Cause I normally wait until its done smoking and sparking and partially covered in ash. :|

twinturboa51
make sure they are fully lit if you are using any ql. make sure there is no black and the whole coal has ashed over before you even put it on the bowl
Arcane
maybe your throat is just getting irritated from smoking? it happens...or you could be getting sick...if you're not really feeling anything during the session, it may just be irritation afterwards.... I 'm not getting sick, but maybe it could be due to smoking without taking breaths of fresh air in between each time you puff. Puffing hookah is so smooth and not harsh so sometimes it can be easy to not breathe oxygen between puffs. I often catch myself not breathing properly also. Some sort of heart strenuous excersize like running helps too. It forces you to breathe more and clear out your lungs. I've found this method helpful in between hookah sessions. antouwan
the hose is only supposed to touch your lips edit: seriously though, i can't really use ql's after trying to go back to 3kings i get MASSIVE headaches. i can't even use john's qls, although i can last about half way through a head on those it still isn't ideal with me. the 'fastest' lighting coals i can use are japs. You can get a little stove for $10 from Walgreens for lighting them too, was well worth it in my book!
Jacob Shock
Quick lights give me breathing problems if i use them to much. i use johns NAT coals and never have a problem.

hookah hippie
if I were you I would try some natural coals and see if those work
