no longer welcome
thx, all very good points, i do prefer the personal feel and that's what i try to do, however caterpillers post is something i think about all the time.
redjako
Its all about usability...color theory for subtle behavior modification (red tends to promote impulse buys or shopping) etc.I can recommend a good UI front-end developer if you like, I used to work at a design company (inventions, mechanical, web from 5 page static to 100 item ecommerce).Word of mouth however is the one of the most Powerful forms of marketing, and John has it in spades. You'll see another order from me soon
agstevens
I kind of agree. It could use some work but thats up for John to decide. I didn't think too much of his website the first time i saw it so mabey he would get more customers if he cleaned it up a bit.
chinamon
if john revamped his site then he would get more new/fresh/virgin customers.however, i think most of his new clients right now are from referrals which is usually the best way to go. RingsMaster
i love johns site, easy to navigate, and simple. some other sites are just too much sometimes johns is a nice break from all the thrills and pretty bells and whistles. dont change a thing john! Helix746
i agree that johns site it great and its easy to use, but (and no offense john) to a random consumer who googled hookah i could totally see how it could look cheap and not legit. Sites like hookah-shisha look very professional and are therefore more trustworthy to the internet consumer (its so hard to know if you are shopping from a good vendor or not on the internet). I dont mind either way because i always use john and recommend him to anyone what even mentions hookah to me, but if he did feel like investing in a more advanced web page i think it could draw some more random customers instead of just word of mouth and loyal customers. antouwan
there is one, and only one thing that gets under my skin about johns site. he doesn't carry razans anymore. that doesn't really bother me as much as the fact that he still has a picture of them up on his homepage! narbishes are great, better than razans/nammors imo (for the pipes that can handle them), but put up a picture of your narbishes on the homepage, not the razans, especially since you don't even carry them anymore! JDHarding
I are a web designer.. I could spiffy up John's site easily. Would require an SQL server and PHP compatibilities, though.Edit: I've created sites that have a nice back end that can be logged into and everything edited easily and products either added, removed, set as Out of Stock, etc. Images uploaded, auto-resized, all that stuff Hookah-Shisha has. I used to make car dealership websites. I'm a little out of practice, though. Edited December 3, 2009 by JDHarding
Vladimir
John is a tip-top vendor, that doesn't mean his site is perfect. I think it is alright, it isn't the easiest to navigate, but I have yet to see a vendors site that I really like the navigation (for example, I normally buy 50g packs, I should be able to search a brand, and then filter out just 50g packs). It is more of an issue with vendors like Hookah Company that have such an insane stock that you have to browse through 20 pages to see a single brand's shisha . John's site isn't the best, but it gets the job done and that's what really counts. I do prefer John's style of selecting the brand and size, and THEN the flavor- it does make it much easier to navigate (whereas with like Hookah Company you have to select the flavor first, making for a lot more searching). I also don't care about photos, I like them, but I don't care if they are kitchen counter photos or nice cropped whatever, as long as I can see the product who cares? And John gets mass points for his videos and participation on this forum.Just got my first shipment from John today, I am confident it won't be my last, he helped me swap out an item I changed my mind on... and he might be a stalker because for a freebie he threw a PBR (Professional Bull Riding) torch lighter in... how did he know I love PBR?
