Newbie Needs Some Direction

Recommended Posts

So here is my background, I am an avid cigar junkie and smoke a pipe regulalrly. I have a friend that wants me to smoke hookah and i need to find some tobacco that will be a comprimise between his flavored usualls and my non flavored tatse. Any imput would be greatlly appreciated. Thanx in advance.

PS I prefer Nicaraguan cigars and as for pipes I smoke virginias and a few perique/virginia blends such as Esqudoe if that helps at all.

i'd say here's your options...

but, ANY Nakhla flavor you want...but, also purchase these two "flavors" - Nakhla Zaghloul and Khalil El Khan...then just do a 50/50 mix with flavored nak and zag...or flavored nak and Khan...

as mentioned already, Desi Murli is a tobacco that may be right up your alley...so, i'd give that a shot as well...

You might like the Tangiers Kashmir line. It's a very spicy smoke. I'd start with Kashmir Peach and Kashmir Cherry. Before you run off and buy anything, please realize that getting a hookah to smoke well is an art form, no exaggeration. You can buy the best pipe, tobacco, and coals, but it doesn't mean it'll smoke well for you. Just like you can buy a wrench, but it doesn't mean you can fix your car without experience as a mechanic.

I think you'll really like Desi Murli. A lot of people like it when they are looking for that tobacco taste with the slight flavored background, not to mention it's really cheap.

Hookah1.com has a good supply of the stuff.

I second the kashmir mention.

K-Cherry is wonderful

Kashmir Cherry took my Tangiers virginity... and now I'm always seeking the greatness of that first smoke... the one that got away...

Well if your an avad tobacco smoker unwashed is the way you need to go. washed shisha has no tobacco"y" flavor IMO. i personally prefer unwashed because the stronger tobacco adds so much to the expirence. here is a run down of 4 unwashed brands i can recommend.

Tangiers- this one is the king of tobacco IMO. its a strong tobacco with a strong flavor. i understand some flavors are weaker like red tea. and cooling has no flavor from my understanding. tangiers is a balnced smoke. its good in every aspect. requires special treatment

Ayam Zaman- very tradional flavor. amazing tobacco taste, not very sweet. instead you get a more molases flavor. and very natural flavor that is not overpowering, yet still strong enough to taste.

Desi Murli- the badass motherfucker of unwashed tobacco. a very spicey tobacco, with a natural flavor. desi makes unflavored so no worys here.

Nakhla- the poor bastards unwashed tobacco. but its damn good, and cheep. it dosent quite compare to the brands above but is incredible none the less. its the poor mans ayam zaman.

now if you wanna be different you can try tombac. this is differnt from shisha.

you buy the whole leaf, break some off, rinse it, break it up, squeze out the water and throw coals directly on the tobacco. its different but may be up your alley.

What I would recommend most would be Zahgul, ive smoked it a few times. Not my favorite but to me it resembled smoking a cigar, somewhat. So I would start there.

I actually smoke cigars as well and love hookah. Its funny because I will not touch the so called "cigars" that are flavored but can stand flavored hookah. To me its like a different level of smoking.

Personally if I were you id just give some different flavors a try. Id stay with tangiers and al faker.

i absolutly love my cigars, and i love my hookah to death. i love them for different reasons, you may find out OP that you love the flavors of hookah while still loving the rich tobacco taste of cigars. worst thing ever though, i was smoking a rocky patel Connecticut and smoked some nak orange, didnt mix well so dont try it lol
