Merrifield Kabob & Hookah Lounge in No.VA

Recommended Posts

Just thought I'd let those Northern VA/DC area forum members know of
this fairly new hookah lounge located on Lee Hwy which I didn't even
know existed until yesterday when by chance I came across it on
HookahHookah.com. It was a middle-eastern restaurant then the owners
sold it and it once again became a restaurant. Just about 2 months ago
they started lighting up hookahs. The food looked/was great and the
service was excellent.  $8 for single flavor (Nahkla) $12 for premium
(Fakher) and $10 for triple apple (2x apple + apple bowl) or Melon with
melon bowl. The place is fairly new and so of course there is plenty of
room for improvement, but I liked it just how it was - your everyday
hookah lounge with good food and great arabic music. No alcohol, of
course, but who needs liquor when you have hookah?

If anyone on here is from around the area I suggest you check this place out.

Any other questions...just ask. www.mkhookah.com for more info.

Sounds fun.  I'm in an isloated college town with one hookah bar, but nobody ever chills there because it looks like a damned McDonalds inside.  Bright, hard chairs, nahkla only, and quicklights.  I go to NYC 4-5 times a year, however, and love checking out some of the really cool lounges.  Nothin better than having a nice meal and then heading over to the hookah bar to chilllll.  Money well spent.  I'm jealous of all of you who have access to cool shisha cafes year-round.

Nothing by me at school (Univ Of Delaware)...there's one Arab place with hookahs in their window, but I dont think they have hookah smoking inside.I live 30 min W of NYC at home, but I've never been to a hookah bar there.

That is pretty much par for the course in NY.  Smoking bans have ruined bars, bowling alleys, bingo halls, and unfortunately, hookah bars.

I think there are something like 40 hookah bars in NYC.  I go to a place called "Hookah Cafe" a lot, which is on 4th right below the park.  They make their own ma'assel, and I suggest trying the cantelope.  The owner told me that as long as you were operating the hookah lounge before the smoking ban went into effect, you can stay open because you get grandfather'd in.  I've been to some nice ones in the village as well, although I hear many "hookah bars" are just fronts for people who want to smoke cigs inside, and don't really offer good shisha.  Whenever I'm in NYC I wind up spending mucho dinero at hookah bars.  A few more months and I'll live there full time.

Astoria's Steinway St. is packed with hookah bars/lounges. I just went when I was home for Easter - pretty chill places. As for the Merrifield Kabob & Hookah  I went back today to get the double melon (Melon in a Melon bowl) - I lost my virgnity to the fruit bowl! It was delicious. I also decided to try the food (other than the hummus) and it was yummy. Once again the service was great.I definitely recommend it to anyone who is in the Fairfax/Falls Church area.

that place looks chill, kinda wierd tho the people sit on the floor I've never seen that before, but before I had gone to a hookah bar I pictured it being something like that. Oasis cafe and Aladdin are usually where I go, they only have nahklah tho and a bit farther. I might have to check that place out.

I went to this place on sunday and it was very good. We sat at the platform lounge thing, which was very nice. I had the melon bowl, which was amazing to see but didnt smoke as well as I had hoped. The taste was very good, like an extremely sweet fresh cantalope, They put 3 or 4, 40mm 3 kings coals on it and about 10 foot long vinyl hoses with original hookah hose parts at each end attached. The food was very good too, everyone had a really good time. I will be going here many times in the future, Its much closer to me and easier to get to than oasis cafe on george mason drive, falls church.

Where are you located exactly pyro? I noticed you said you were going to to the MYA store - I'm heading up there tomorrow. Need to pick up a couple of hoses.

I'm in Herndon technically, just off the 28 'bout 5 minutes from Dulles Airport. Turns out the cafe you mentioned is almost a half hour away, so sadly that'll probably have to wait for Sunday.
