KyleTheJustin
So I've been playing around with some easier and more effective ways to clean my hookah, but I'm sort of stuck with the baking soda technique that seems to take ages. I use a mix of water (obviously) and baking sode to clean my hookah and hose out, and it works, but I wonder if there is anything better out there. What have some of you made scientists cooked up in regards to cleaning your equipment? Keep in mind that everything that I use is washable, so hit me with it all!Cheers,-K
joytron
water and soap works fine for me and its super quick
MonkeyFresh
I used Dr. Bronner's all natural castile soap, its gentle enough to brush your teeth with and handles anything my hookah throws at itPlus I love the peppermint smell that my hookah exudes post-cleaning It doesn't impart any taste either so long as you wash it out well enough and let it dry completely before next use
Zinite
One out of every 10 times, I swirl baking soda in the hookah. Keeps them plenty clean.
KyleTheJustin
That's what I've been doing, but I still get a pretty gross after smell when I'm done cleaning it. Maybe it's my dank brush....

Jondd88
I have always just rinsed my hookah and parts with hot water in between sessions until the water coming out looks clean.I have never really had any issues with ghosting or anything but maybe I just don't notice it. Overcleaning, kind of like good cooking pans is a negative for hookah's methinks.

ngraz617
I use water and dishwashing liquid soap. I use a cleaning kit. For my hose I use lemmon juice, baking soda and water mixed and let it sit in there and then rinse with warm water but not hot water on the hose ever. I also just blt the fabric on the Nammor I don't rub because it will frey.
Vladimir
Water only always. I normally just wash the outside of the stem with a quick rinse, if it has been in storage a while or I feel up to it I will use hot water and a brush to clean out the entire stem- then I blast everything with an air compressor until not a drop of water remains. I hate the cleaning part, that is why I ordered a 23" Temsaah a couple days ago, I am hoping the 23" vs 34" I already have will be much easier to clean, at the very least it should fit in the sink! TobiasKM
Mostly just water and a stem brush. I have a tendency to let my hookah stand with water in for way too long.. Exceptionally lazy. So I've been having some slight ghosting, so recently I used lemon juice in the stem and my nammor hose, and baking soda and water in my base.. And it pretty much eliminated all ghosting, good as new And very easy.
Codename067
Baking Soda and Hookah cleaning go hand in hand, along with Lemon Juice as mentioned multiple times in this thread. Use the skinny stem brush and make sure you run the brush from both the bottom of the stem and the very top [some of my stems are several inches longer than my brush, so I run it form both ends]. agstevens
does the lemon juice leave an after taste?
Sonthert
If you have a tubed-bell hookah, you only need to run water through the ports and the main tube and give the main tube a light brushing. Jars every month or so, as needed, water and a jar brush. If you have a non-tubed bell, you need to brush the inside of the bell too...if the bell can be cleaned.
