New Hookah And Hose

Recommended Posts

I got some new stuff so a couple questions.

1- I got a Narbish today, this is my first aftermarket/washable hose. Do I need to clean it out before use? It still has fabric and such so I guess I just need to wash it and let it dry out before I smoke happy.gif. To wash a hose I just run water, maybe some soap, right? And do I need to wash it prior to first use?

2- I should be getting my new Temsaah tomorrow as well. It is brass so this is new to me. I understand I need to wash it prior to use... oxidation comes from air not water so for future use it probably matters that I wash it prior to use (where as my other hookah I wash after use normally), correct? How bad does oxidation happen, or is it more of a case-by-case basis? For this I can just brush the stem with some hot water maybe some soap, and do a regular vase cleaning correct?

Thanks!

Sadly I can only smoke really when my brother is not home so I might have to wait until Monday! EEK I hope I don't work Monday morning!

1)yes give it a nice wash before you use it..if you can mix in some lemon juice and baking soda inside the hose and clean the tips has well..

2)i do not have alot of experience with brass hookahs..but i dont believe washing it before use or after use will do any damage to it..i would just wash it after use if not then your stem will ghost depending how long it is between each smoking session

if you have a brass hookah, wash it before each use...you'll find the water running through it is green because of the oxidation...

best to remove all that crap BEFORE you smoke...

do you mean his first time or after each smoke session to wait until the next session to wash it?

I wash each time after use, and most brass hookahs I use don't have green buildup/wash. Even after several uses without cleaning, you get a blackish stuff from tobacco residue, but green seems to only happen early on in the hookah's life. I don't know. Lets put it this way, I don't see a lot of green stuff coming out of my brass pipes. It might be that a thicker layer of some other metallic compound blocks the copper from further attack...I can't really say for sure. Copper does have a durable outer oxidation layer that protects it from further oxidation...maybe it applies here. If the carbonate in the water can't get to the copper after its built up a protective layer after a few uses, maybe it can't react with it anymore.

As far as cleaning the hose...why not? Its a good practice to wash anything washable before use....this should be no exception.

most of your brass pipes are older, have they had this at all recently? out of curiousity

Just got it, looks very nice, cannot wait to give her a smoke! The top is definitely brass, but the bottom of the stem (that goes in the vase) does not look brass, I wonder if it is something else (and then if it is, if the entire inside of the stem is something else).

Gotta work tonight late so will have to clean her up in the morning, unfortunately I do not think I will get a chance to smoke until Tuesday at the earliest =(
