Emberke202
So im planning to order from John. However im a bit confused. so i'd like to ask your opinion if you've ever ordered from join shipped overseas?Does John Really charge $10 for going to the post office? Does John really only accept payments by Western Union?
Arcane
The $10.95 shipping is only for the Continental US. If you ship outside of the lower 48, then John will call you and let you know the estimated price of shipping. Then you can either agree to purchase the merchandise or cancel your order. John charges each order manually, so you probably won't even get a charge/refund on your card statement.I'm not sure about the whole Western Union. I normally use my credit card and haven't had any problems with that.

Chreees
Really I would just shoot John a PM or email him at john@hookahjohn.com. He'll gladly answer your questions about shipping. But Arcane's advice works just the same...
E_Weazy
I just bought from HJ and got my shipment in, and yes I am from Canada (so it would be international).Shipping cost me a lot more than just 10 dollars HJ sent me an e-mail telling me it was 20-30 so it was up to me if I wanted or not, safe to say you know which route I chose lol. Also I paid with credit, I would never use WU as I here too many horror stories. Rani
Maybe I'm a suspicious wench, but the entire tone of the thread seems like an attack on John's shipping policies. Makes me think everyone would be wasting their breath. I live in the US but order merchandise from Asia and Europe all the time. You pay much more for international shipping. Get over it or don't order internationally.'Rani
Arcane
ok, i would like to somewhat retract my previous statement....seems like John changed things up a bit...
mix_tape
He just emailed me last time and said what my shipping charges would be. I would never expect my shipping to be $10 from previous experience its always around $20/$30. He is good at letting people know the increase in the amount and I believe its in the email that gets sent to you with confirmation of your order that if you are international he will email you an updated price in shipping I could be wrong on that but I swear it said it somewhere.I agree with Rani, in general if your getting something international expect to pay the extra shipping... phantastik
Yeah, in that case it wont show the shipping at the end of the order, well technically it will, but it will be the wrong amount.John will call or contact you with the grand total (including international shipping), as well as risks me thinks. And yeah, international shipping amount depends on how much weight, i ordered a tie from japan for 30-40USD a piece, including shipping! You don't get standard shipping rates but Johns shipping charges are pretty much the same as any other vendor I've dealt with.
delSol_si
remember too, some vendors refused to do international shipping period, so John is really doing you a favor even accepting the order in the first place. I'm not international at all, so I don't know his policies regarding that, but from the sounds of it, if he wants to charge a $10 convenience fee for the bullshit, so be it, don't like it? don't orderI'm not saying he is the ONLY vendor that ships internationally, because I am sure there are probably more, I jsut know some places have stopped doing it because of the hassle involved. I could not even imagine ordering from a site in german. Before i order i always want some feedback and i can only imagine how much harder it is overseas when you gotta make a huge order. Emberke202
Joytron is right, i am willing to pay the huge shipping price ofc, i get used to pay 40-50-60 bucks for a package, just i read those in the terms, and those made me confused, for example ive never heard about that Western Union before, and thought it is good if i ask some opinion. And this $10 extra charge is not a huge price , just weird, that i gotta pay for John's time involved in going to the post office..And obviously i mailed John yesterday, waiting for his response
Amn_sinclair
i recently got it explained to me by john... He usues a $10 flatrate box to mail your orders. if the order does not fit in a flat rate box then of course he is going to have to charge more for shipping. The first time i ordered with john everything fit in a flat rate box and i only had to pay the $10 on my recent order everything did not fit in the box so i paid john an extra $10. if you are shipping international there is no flat rate for international so your going to be charged by weight and where it is going internationaly. bringing something to europe from the states, can end up being a little more pricey. a little more being around $50 or so... E_Weazy
John, before processing the payment of my card, e-mailed me daily and asked and explained what I could do.THats the price of international shopping, and yes I did pay the extra. THat extra little bit won't stop me from buying from John, great service, gets here fast, and still cheaper by far then local.
