mushrat
At a cafe: a fountain soda with crushed ice or a bottle out of a cooler?
EsOva
at a cafe (hookah bar), its more likely id prefer the bottle, but at a more formal resturaunt type place, i think i deserve a glass with crushed ice with the fountain soda plus a lil sliced lemon/lime chillin on the edge of the glass. smokinshisha4life
either way is cool with me, I like a glass of coke with ice better, but usually I just buy smoothies and they give a can if u order a coke. Overall as long as I have something to drink its fine with me.
c4r80n
fountain will be cheaper (to the owner) but bottle will be better for the customer (no watered down drinks, or too much ice).
HookahCaterpillar
Id rather have a fountain soda. Also with fountain soda you can make more profit. You opening up a hookah bar mush?
inimicus
I don't like my drinks with ice. Unless it's jack on the rocks. I'd prefer to get my (unadulterated) Mountain Dew out of an ice cold frigo, thanks.However...I once went to a Japanese restaurant. Fancy it was. Until I ordered a 7up and the waitress brought over a can of the beverage and opened it in front of me. "Wood yoo like a cup o ice?" ...No thanks. An establishment loses class points (if that's the goal) when its beverages aren't served in nice, overfilled, chilled glasses. As a rule...Sit-down booths and waiting service = Sodas in glasses. Unless it's IBC/Thomas Kemper Rootbeer, Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Juice, or other beverages known for the bottling.Order counter, line queue, and number-calling = dixie cups, cans, and bottles permissable. Fast food feel.
yashman19
I'm weird. I don't like drinking soda out of a plastic bottle. It seems like it warms up faster than when drinking soda from a metal can, or a glass with ice. I also hate drinking soda through a straw :)So yeah, you have my vote
LestOH!
i'd shoot for both, if i were you.maybe have a fountain soda w/ crushed ice (or optional without) and free refills?and have one of those see-through caged-shelf sliding door coolers to have cans of soda and/or bottles..=/ i dont know.i'd prefer fountain drinks > bottledbut since it's a hookah lounge, bottled might be more appropriate/profitting.you could even work your way up to having fountain drinks, you know?
$.02
:]
Lukasa
Fountain drinks are preferable unless the beverage comes in a glass bottle, in which case the bottle should be seved to the customer ice-cold. Plastic bottles are so crappy. They are by far the worst way to drink soda.
SanguineSolitude
definatley fountain soda. it lends a sense of authenticity to the place and makes it more like an actual establishment. chinese takeout gives you cans or bottles, restaurants give you glasses. fountain is good for man reasons its more profitable for the owner, causes less plastic to be wasted, takes up less space than crates of bottles, allows for refills, and doesnt clutter up the tables with ugly plastic bottles. fountain all the way. Sonthert
Come to my lounge...I am a big fan of fountain sodas...I have no espresso machine. Number one, you product cost per unit is lower...you can give away freebies and not worry about it as much. Soda foutains also prodcue less trash/.recycling and are cheaper to operate than an espresso machine AND spoilage isn;t a problem.
web250
Definately go fountain style...much easy. And like Tangiers said, no trash, less mess.Just need ice, the soda water, and the syrup. And you can easily change which syrup you buy to fit your customers' needs.
Alqoshnia
i dunno bout you guys but i think coke (or any soda) in that glass bottle, mmmmmm mmmmmm it tastes sssooo much better than cans or plastic bottles. the only set backs are that they come in small bottles and are more expensive, well around where i live its like that. i wonder how come it tastes so different??? steve07
I guess I misunderstood, iced tea has been known to come out of a fountain dispenser. Ask somefast food chains. But ok and good luck. Have you decided on coke or pepsi products mayby you start a poll if you haven't remember the taste challenge?
mushrat
Steve: no offense meant... Tea..from a soda machine??? I'm in North Carolina, they'll run me out of town on a rail if I don't have real brewed ice tea... Hmmm..that is a good question...though Pepsi is more "Southern" I'm thinking soda "gun" behind a bar....
cymptom
Sobe, gatorade, iced tea, lemonade, fruit punch and all that stuff is dispensed in "soda machines" or fountain dispensers around here. I wouldn't drink it though But to answer the question of the thread... I'd rather drink from a bottle just because I don't like ice. Why water down the drink if it's already cold? steve07
Hey Mush no offence was taken I agree my family is originally from the south they would have my head if I drank tea from a fountain.
DownZero
I would go w/ the crushed ice choice... I'm a person who enjoys eating ice... and enjoy it while smoke as well...
djnick
im a fountain man myself, i actually noticed something funny about diff fountain machines. Example a pizza hut near me has pepsi that taste alot different than bottled pepsi. It tastes more sugary and richer than usual. Im not sure if its the way they mix it or what, but a similar thing happened at Tangiers lounuge. His Orange soda tasted alot better than normal, and he said he didnt change anything on the fountain. I swear im not crazy!
Social Smoke
Carry a small selection/small inventory of glass bottled drinks for nostalgic value and for specific customers. There is something nice about drinking a soda out of a bottle every once in a while. For the rest, crushed Ice and Fountain drinks. I personally drink a lot if I’m smoking/hanging out so I prefer the free refill fountain drink setup... Free refills might only be a regional thing. What about up north? Anyone here from NY?. When I was in NYC I noticed that most places did not offer free refills.
