Rachael
i was wondering if any of you shisha makers have ever thought of trying a lemon-magnolia type of scent for shisha. i make soap and use the scent in it, as do others. i thought that a lemon flavour with a floral scent would be interesting. sorry if my post seems weird or anything, i'm a new poster, but i have an almost similar hobby as i might imagine shisha making is. soaping is chemistry not cooking. it's chemistry combined with total imersion in scent and creativity. soapers buy thousands of dollars worth of essential oils and fragrance oils for scenting soap. a lot of the things we add cause the soap to fail, or seize. more money on more trials. there is a hugely long learning curve in soap making that only direct experience can impart. i imagine shisha making is like that, extremely addictive creative process of learning. you develope a background in chemistry, biology and 'nose', science and creativity; in soap too. anyway i wanted to just ask about some of the scents i use in soaping. there are a lot of fruit-flower combinations people like: apricot-freeshia, rose-berry, blueberry-honeysuckle, apple-blossom, orange blossom, lemon-rose, lemon-lavender (had that in ice cream and loved it), blackberry-rose. my favorite is the lemon-magnolia. the reason that we soapers combine them in soap is because they stay strong better when complex in scent. it's a very caustic medium and large amounts of the scents are chemically neutered and some heats off with higher temperature of the gel stage of the chemically reacting soap in the boxes. i would imagine that you guys making something that withstands heating to steam level have it waaaaay worse. to counter loss and increase stable scents in soaping, you anchor the top notes to base notes and with the really complex scents there is much to work with. i have seen some interesting combination of tangiers scents that leads me to belive that it's the same. could the other soap combinations i listed work for anyone? Sonthert
Its big business, there's 200-300 flavor/fragrance companies in the US alone and our technology is top-rate. People ask why Tangiers taste better, I always say, U.S. technology is 20 years ahead of Europe.
EliteHookah.com
I've tried a home blend of lemon-rose. It's pretty magnificent. The tartness of the lemon hits first and is finished off nicely with that unique rose after-taste. Does anyone else think rose sort of tastes like delicious soap?
