NIGHTS OF BAGHDAD
Hey does anyone know what the exact differences are between Egyptian and Syrian pipes?
mostly quality and looks..but that doesnt apply to all because there are no brand name egyptians out there that are garbage and the same goes for syrians..then theres km's and mz egyptians that are really great quality and looks badass, the same goes for syrian with al fakher pipes..if you plan to go with either type for syrian stick with al fakher pipes and egyptian stick with km or mz and your good to go..now i know you will ask of the two which is better? thats completly up to you..for looks they both look great so you cant lose there..for performance i havent heard of anyone say syrians are bad..they all love BUTTTT what i keep hearing is they smoke good but i find myself going back to my km pipe..so theres no complaints about them but people who have smoked km then syrian prefer the km..also something to note the stem of the syrian alot of times is smaller then the km's, the km has a wider stem allowing for more smoke..another thing if you go al fakher syrian hookah, i would go with the solid models over the light..they look better and weight a bit more.. Chreees
Egyptians have a wider diameter downstem and also wider hose port/purge. This allows for more smoke, meaning bigger clouds, easier draw. You'll be happier overall with an Egyptian (when I say this I mean a KM) over any Syrian. If you do go Syrian, the AF's are the best way to go, preferrably the AF Medium or Large Solid. It'll smoke just about the same maybe a little less as well as a KM. Probably won't be able to tell a difference, though.

OneGreenMonstah
ya i actually already have a KM... i've been smoking for a couple years now but and always wondered the difference and finally needed to know... i agree that the egyptian ports and downstem are all wider than syrians... i appreciate the response though! Hippo_Master
Build quality, basically. There's some good info posted here but a lot of misconception. First, based on the posts they see Syrians as one single entity, and Egyptians as one single entity. This is not correct. My Syrian, unbranded from what I can see, has an enormous gauge, and the hose port tubing is almost double that of a KM and even the AF Syrian. The AF syrian I have is larger than the Tri-Metal KM I have as well. The center tubing in my AF Syrian is thinner than all the other hookahs, and the center tubing in my unbranded Syrian is larger than all the others. There's no syrian/egyptian hookah standard, so as far as we all know, the basic difference between Egyptian and Syrian hookahs is commonly (but not always) solid brass construction.
Great info, It really depends on what pipe you get, I have had two syrians, two myas, a KM and a no name egyptian pear. Guess what? the pear had by far the widest down stem, you couldnt even clean it with regular stem brushes. From what I have encountered the syrians are more ornate and have higher quality vases. T355
I had a Syrian for a while and always loved it. I recently got a MZ and i can tell the build quality is a bit better. My MZ does smoke better, but not by a huge margin.

Bulldog_916
I'd say look for either and dont take preference. Syrian pipes are really good. Some have a bit smaller guage but depending on what your smoking style it may not matter. Imo, i think we as Americans are too wrapped up in brand names. We look down on anything without a stamp or brand. In the hookah world thats a mistake. 90% of them out there dont have a brand. We seem to gravitate to the 10% all the time. Without looking beyond the simple brand comparisons, you dont get a very wide scope of vision. I say branch out and try both and see what you like. I did when I bought my no name Syrian and never looked back on it.
