Nicotine Does Not Cause Lung Cancer!

Recommended Posts

Nearly 85% of people in a recent study believed that Nicotine caused lung cancer.

So i went Googling around and found some real interesting stuff! Lets assume that most Shisha/Hookah flavour has around 0.5% Nicotine and 0% tar as is usually written on the boxes.

However, nicotine's addictiveness has very little to do with what's causing lung cancer. There have been no scientific studies that demonstrate nicotine causes cancer of any kind. In fact, some studies have shown that nicotine by itself is not all that addictive. People who use nicotine gum and patches often find that nicotine dependency is far easier to get rid of compared to the actual cigarette addiction.

So does nicotine cause lung cancer? No. The fact that nicotine gum and patches exist as OTC supplements is solid evidence. If nicotine was carcinogenic, the FDA would simply pull it off the shelves. After all, why would you quit smoking with the substance that causes problems in the first place?

Myths: Nicotine is carcinogenic
Fact: Nicotine is not proven to cause cancer. There are more than 4,000 other chemicals in cigarette smoke, many of which are known to cause cancer. In particular it is the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and nitrosamines that are the probable causative agents for lung and other cancers. The risks associated with NRT to aid stop smoking are significantly outweighed by the risks of smoking.

Myths: Nicotine causes the diseases related to smoking
Fact: Cigarettes are a well-known cause of cancer, CH lung disease, heart disease, and other disorders. It is the myriad of toxins in cigarette smoke, rather than the nicotine content, that is responsible for the majority of the harmful effects. In other words, it is the delivery system, not the addictive drug, which is responsible for the vast majority of tobacco-related diseases.

It is a poison, that is a fact. It is so poisonous, in fact, it is also used as a "CIA Assassination Mystery Death Drug". There was a conspiracy to assassinate Castro in the 60s, and the operative(s) were given syringes of it. it is used as a pesticide, its trade name is Black Leaf#40. Its use as a pesticide, however, tends towards being in breweries and dairies where if the residue of the pesticide contaminates the products for human consumption will not cause significant health impacts, unlike more common, synthetic, stronger pesticides.

Actually, the link between nicotine and cancer is a little more foggy. Nicotine seems to inhibit the apoptotic response in the body, which is one the bodies defenses against cancer. It is not a carcinogen. It can pyrolyze, giving rise to carcinogens. It can increase the carcinogenicity of other carcinogens due to the suppression of the apoptotic response in the body. In the same way if I said that asthma doesn't cause people to asphyxiate...its a not breathing enough that causes people to asphyxiate. The asthma might hinder a person's ability to breathe, but it and of itself doesn't cause asphyxiation. I would say its not a carcinogen and shoudn't be treated as such, though.

Walt would have us remove our lungs to stop lung cancer! Why stop there? Pancreas? Whats the point? Liver? No onions? Just have socialized health care kill everybody and then health care costs will be zero. Socialism is the enemy here, not smoking. Wait a minute...what was the question again?
